| It would seem the RFL have got it wrong and have egg on their faces,
Toulouse What a joke!!
Salford Again a joke, no wins, no ground(although JW said on the rugby league hour their stadium would be ready for Oct 2010 )
Celtic Actually done the better out of the 3 but sold the lease on their ground to the footy club, are they in finaincual trouble?

| All is irrelevant, we are in NL's playing for no promotion and are failing to put bums on seats.
Give me Salfords problems anyday because we are nowhere near meeting criteria, and I fear not getting a franchise next time will see the end of our club in its current format.

| It’s to early to tell how Toulouse will go, they’ve got three years to get it right.
Salford would have been promoted under the old system, and so would Celtic if it was just a matter of increasing the size of SL.
I think we have concentrate on us not others, having said that we should pick up on what others do well, ie 5000+ at Widnes on a Thursday night with no away fans.

Just like to agree with this post.We are where we are and whatever we think about the fast tracked teams or Salford,s performances moaning about other clubs doesn,t help us.
Hope we take a good support to Sheffield for Sunday.

Level playing field????????
It would seem to me that Mr Samuels, now he has his hands on the SKY one million is also cashing in by selling the lease (his to sell?). Will he still be around in three years time?

| Maybe not, but that won't be entirely our own doing will it. Maybe in three years time we can compare the number of clubs who have folded or gone into administration with the three years to date. Victims of the Lewis Crunch

| Widnes had in theory one of their biggest games of the season,a so called genuine rival for the next Franchise round, they have appointed a high profile coach and gave away 1000 school tickets which means at least 1000 adults must come along as well.
When we play Fev on TV we must do something similar,we won't get 5000 but a televised crowd of 3000 plus will be good and this should be our minimum target.
I'm sorry but sometimes I think people in Leigh deserve what we get as it really is a town full of moaners, maybe its the years of seeing our Town ripped apart by WMBC or industry being decimated but we have definately become a town of can't doers instead of will doers.
I'm impressed with the clubs stance on developing a team and if fans are too impatient and get a kick out of telling eveyone how bad we are and we are doomed,we probably will end up like this.
I'm sick of reading on here how if we don't do this and that we are going to have no club, tell me something I don't know, most clubs in Rugby League has similar concerns and I'd rather be in Leighs shoes than most of the others.
Rant over but come on get a grip we've not played a league game yet lets look forward to 2/3 years of good competition and stop being obsessed with Franchising and bloody crowd sizes, cost of pie is much more interesting.

I know, blinkin ridiculous, £1.25 for a chicken n Mushroom Greenhalghs in Asda
Seriously you make some good points and I fear that the apathetic public of Leigh may be our downfall.
What is the difference between the people of Leigh and Widnes (serious question - I know they are mutants) and why can they attract people to their games (especially on a Thursday evening). Someone has said it before we would struggle to get 5000 even if it was free for everyone to get in so what is the difference between Leigh and Widnes?

| I went to see man United this week and had a very nice pie at it was cheaper than at the LSV.
Last leigh home game went to the hotel £5.50 for a pint and a meal, enjoyed that aswell.
Personally I miss the MM bar food and drink at a reasonable price and somewhere for the fans to meet AT THE GROUND!

The last point about the MM bar is disappointing & has really become obvious in the last few weeks. Especially thinking about the reception/send-off we gave the Russians at HP & as a place where fans of both teams could mix together before & after the game, which has always been one of the best things about RL. And then recently DJ made a good point about not having anywhere the younger fans can get a quick autograph or photo with their favourite players - any hint of a "club" feeling has gone, which is why it now feels so sterile rather than feeling like "our" ground.
At all stages throughout the planning of the LSV the question was asked repeatedly and we were specifically promised a facility that would be at least equivalent to the MM bar, and yet it hasn't appeared. There's a room that's probably the same size but no thought has gone into how the room is used or what can be done to make it more attractive to the customer. Again, everybody just seems to want to slap a hefty charge on it because its new and otherwise believe that it will fill itself, and the pies & drinks & hospitality will sell themselves with no additional thought required. It's all be done "by numbers" with no consideration for the customer, who ultimately will decide whether or not it makes money.
Hopefully the LSV, catering company & everybody will start to use some common sense soon and work together to look at how the facility can be made more welcoming, otherwise all parties will struggle.

| Reality sometimes hurts.
AT is funding the survival of LRLFC, he wont be able to do it forever. Get a calculator, add up the costs of squad, coaches, transport, training, kit, LSV, academies, office, management etc and tell me our income can sustain it.
If we want to change that we need to make the LSV move a success by putting bums on seats, sponsors on jerseys and full corporate facilities.
We have alienated fans, even if LSV co hasnt helped, by making the matchday experience truly awful and having zero marketing ability, unlike Widnes.
There is a simple strategy, make SL a vision, map out how we will get there, communicate and devise a strategy that will ignite interest for the general public to get behind the clubs vision.
We have a cant do/wont work culture within the club, replace them with dynamic people who have a can do attitude and a presence that becomes the catalyst for change.
The RFL are allegedley making £100k available for us to recruit those people, I am sure Widnes have taken advantage.

| Come on Maurice the £100K is a smokescreen and everyone should knows it is, take out the cost of the two new appointments required and the travel costs to Tolouse and theres not a lot left of that £1ooK plus you have to win the Arriva Cup and Grand Final, a smokescreen but one that everyone has seemed to have swallowed.
Just as a matter of interest which of the clubs 2 full time employees (not counting the Youth dept 4 (1 grant funded) Lottery 1 and coaching staff 2) would you 'replace'? (I'll even tell you who they are our Andy and Dave Bradshaw)

| Anyone else get an email from RFL offering free tickets to the Salford W***n match?
As a reward for my support of the RL they are offering me and a friend or family member the chance to attend one of the biggest engage Super League games of the season FOR FREE – SALFORD CITY REDS vs. WIGAN WARRIORS on Friday 20 March
Looks like they are trying to help increase the fans for Salford

The bit in bold above is laughable enough in itself
Big game my ar@e. If Salford play the way they have been it'll be over for half time.

| Fair point mate I must admit.
I think by the time the 3 years are up more clubs will be at risk for not getting their grounds sorted out rather than their performance on the field.
Although knowing the RFL if Saints ground isn't sorted then they'll move the goalposts for everyone else as well.
