Quote ="jesus-is-coming"So you want these so called bad teams to die then?
And replace them with more french more welsh oh and a irish one and a scottish one....how does that help England?
The game will survive without sky...lets look were all this sky money goes?
On youth ? on lower tier clubs? on a national stadium for our national team?
Lets look at what the game as achieved since super league as started...do we win internationals? nope infact we play less internationals now
Do we have a strong vibrant game? nope infact the game is losing more clubs than gaining with so called old tired clubs being allowed to die slowly
Have we gots loads of great young talent coming through? nope all levels are full of players unable to hold down a regular spot in the southern hemisphere
So basically all this sky money seems to be for clubs to line the pockets of club directors, over rated players from down under and over flated payments to sub standard homegrown players.
So if sky walk away and why would they walk away from a product they get thesecond and third weekly highest rated sport on there network for basically peanuts how would our game change?
Would it mean we could go back to regular touring sides ,even playing against clubs on a tour
Would it mean internationals getting aired on national tv at prime time saturday afternoon ,I mean we use to fill bigger grounds than what we do now under sky?
Aye sky have been such a great saviour of our game'"
Actually, it continues to fall. Recently speedway and tennis have attracted bigger viewings than SL! No, SL and franchising isn't working and won't work, but the idea that by cancelling our subscriptions it'll make any difference is unlikely. RL's problem is that it is unfashionable. Reducing P&R has made it more elitist whereas the RFU, realising that, have strengthened the second tier. The RFL is too stupid to realise that the franchise model (such as the Magners League) is a financial disaster area with even famous clubs like Cardiff and Llanelli unable to fill stadia for league games.
