I'm coming up from London to visit my son at Uni in Manchester and we're going to the game on Friday. I fancy standing in the South Stand. Will we be able to pay on the day, and how packed will it be? Can we go anywhere or are people territorial about their space? Thanks for any advice.

South stand is first come first served its as simple as that. You can stand anywhere there is space, sooo that depends on time you plan to enter the stadium. You should be able to pay on the gate, been a long time since we sold a game out.

Safe journey up! Tickets are available on the gate for the South Stand on match day. If you like a tightly packed community atmosphere with singing, chanting and the drum, then make your way in the South Stand towards the West stand (away end);if you are none too bothered about being shoulder to shoulder with your neighbour (although it will be almost full against Wigan) then towards the East stand will be quieter.

If you don't mind standing cheek to jowl with people who swear profusely, break wind with abandon, drink/spill beer, terrible manners and dubious hygiene then the South is for you. (That's just the women)

Turn up 30 mins or more before KO to get a decent spot, but just be aware that some half cut morons will decide its their right to push in front of you after piling out of The Rodney just as the teams come out.

Don't know if you've been here before, but just in case, south west corner is where the kids/crap drummers stand(with possible addition of smoke bombs this week, since its wigan).

Bang on half way right at the front seems to be where blue haired mandy has settled this year.

Halfway up, on the SW 40 line, there's a phantom farter. a Bit further back than that is the mad whistler.


The view's not too bad from Jack Fish corner (new corner under the new screen) thats not usually too busy.

There are certainly a few strange odours to assault the nostrils F Mr C . Good old south stand !

sadly in the south east corner she has been replaced almost like for like (minus the blue hair) with an equally annoying female....

there was a point during the Leeds game when all three of us looked at each other and mumbled "love me"

One thing it might be worth checking out is whether you can just pay cash at a designated turnstile or whether you have to first buy a ticket (on the night) from the ticket office.

This might also be worth checking too in terms of getting your lad a student discount ticket too (£16 rather than £22) on production of student ID/NUS card etc.

Again not sure if you can just do this at the turnstile or whether you need to buy a concession ticket at the ticket office.

If it's not all ticket, the cash turnstiles for the South stand is towards the West (far) end. A bit of Corporate for UR this week, so there will be a space on the SW 40 and if the 'Phantom' appears to be missing also 2+2=5 NOT GUILTY

I must stand near you and U.R!! That farter ruins my night every time im there!! I ecen make a note of shouting my feelings too. Seems like the farter cannot take sutble hints. Haha.

Maybe it's not a single offender. What if its an organised movement created in spite by a former employer to ruin match day experiences? perhaps its one who is upset that we don't like the new badge?

Does the club need to put bio hazard signs up ?
