Perfect result for us, we stay second whatever happens in France. Widnes must have conceded over 20 penalties, mostly for things that Wigan normally do.

Tomkins will be back next year. Still not fully fit. He's not took the line on once all season and surrenders every tackle.

If I was Lineham, I'd be treating this as pre season. He isn't going to play, otherwise he'd be in this week, so he should be getting some miles into his legs, losing a bit and spending a lot of time with the kicking coaches learning to deal with kick in behind him. He's got a month before the season ends to get his name back in the good books.

Only he can turn this around, he needs to get his ample backside in gear.

The Lineham situation is a real problem for us. He get's paid none the less and counts on the cap. I cannot see any team wanting to take him on maintaining his current wages. Quite realistically so long as he abides by the terms of his contract he can just wallow picking up his wage.

The rest of RL must be laughing their socks off at the Wire. Asotasi, Dodds, Wheeler ,Lineham, the club appear to want to buy any donkey that comes on the market, anyway some good news,J Tansey is back on the market .

You can hardly put Dodds in that list. it's a freak injury and the one game he did play he was extremely solid

Didn't Dodds come with a long term injury & i seem to remember him playing about 15 minutes at Salford & 5 minutes at Catalans before going off with his latest injury ?

Whether or not we paid any money for Roy, i'm pretty sure we had to pay him a wage for his mediocre performances.

You can't possibly include Dodds in that. most of us saw the injury happen, it was just very unlucky. Wheeler was a hit or miss signing for very little money. He is a talented player and had it paid off we would have been laughing. Lineham is a strange one. His whole persona says, @I don't want to be here,' and I strongly suspect that he won't be next year.
Back to the thread, I really enjoyed last night. not the best quality at times, but what an exciting finish, 2 teams doing their utmost to lose the game. How on earth Wigan didn't hammer Widnes is beyond me.

I suspect soon this board will be censored such that only "everything is wonderful in Wire world" topics be discussed.

It's perfectly fair game on a dedicated fans' forum to question any signings especially those of Asotasi and Lineham without being accused of being a "moaner". Both took/take a chunk of salary cap and could hardly be considered good signings at the time of writing.

Plenty of people have sung the praises of signings such as Hill, Clarke and Westerman.

This team is going to finish top and I don't think it's in the top five best teams wire teams over the last decade!! We're in a position helped by personnel retirement and early injuries that hit Leeds and to a lesser extent Hudds. The elite comp if too easy, the top four are all peace poor. ...

Arh no what am I saying....forget all that I said, this team is ace, Tom Lineham should be knighted. Excellent second half kicking at Wembley Sandow. Gidley must have been out all week practising those easy kicks!

Dodds was injured when he was signed & came to us to be rehabilitated into playing fitness, then had a second injury. Ryan Bailey was carrying an injury to his wrist. Laithewaite, Evans & Harrison were all long term injuries & Wheeler was an injury waiting to happen. Alright, Harrison was de registered ,but take the remaining 5 for x amount of months out of the squad & we finish up with 23 out of a 28 man squad doing all the work ,then wonder why they are knackered. Do the maths !
