Seen some stuff on Facebook and Twitter mentioning Sandow as being a normal signing and that Tariq is to be announced as our marquee player? Strange one, he is 25 and was mentioned as an origin player this series. Would be a good move if we could get him. Any thoughts?

I would have thought that Sandow would be the marquee player. given that he is probably earning a fair whack in the NRL.

IF we can manage to bring him in as non marquee, then brilliant, as we will be able to sign a quality forward.... Tariq would be an amazing signing.. But can we really see someone with a realistic chance of origin rugby coming over? I dont think so.. But we have already seen that it helps to have a brother in the ranks, so who knows.

I very much doubt he is a realistic target, given his chances of origin however he would be joining his brother and also team mate in Gidley. Would be over the moon but highly doubt it....

No chance, I asked Ashton whether any of his brothers would come and join him with our recent record of brothers playing for us and he said definitely not, they both thought he was mad coming over to the UK and that they weren't interested in leaving Australia. Also I would be quite surprised if sandow was our marquee player, surely he would just be on asotasi's wage at the end of the season if not slightly more. I don't really see anyone we could use the marquee ruling on at present so it might be worth saving it for another Tomkins opportunity coming up in the near future. Hopefully a training ground bust up involving Kallum Watkins.

Can anyone tell me how Tomkins went on when he played for the Warriors?
Did he set their comp alight a la Burgess or was he lacking?

In our comp I know he'd be good, but actually as a big money signing I got the impression that he didn't quite live up to the billing in their comp.

We must surely be paying Sandow somewhere between £250-300k per year. He would have to be marquee or we'd have some serious cap balancing to do.

Last season he was ok at best... This season he has been poor... Just a bang average back in the NRL.

If you asked the Aussies who would they rather have, Sam Tomkins or Mike Cooper... Pretty much all of them would opt for cooper.

Just another thought on Sandow wages ....... Parramatta dont wont him (disruptive). Only 1 other NRL side have shown any kind of passing interest IIRC. Surely his earning potential in the NRL is closer to zero rather than £250k

Surely the best way to get your man and one who appears to have a bit of an ego/attitude is to say you want him he's part of your plans we're going to do this, play like that, you're key. Yes its 12000 miles we will look after you and your family Llandudno is a bit like Bondi it's going to be great....

OR well no one wants you you're not worth top money it's £50k plus all you can eat at Big Portion and free 'grog' at Wilkies on none match days.

We were all talking about Ashton Simms in the pub last night. Great player and the Morley-esk fire which has been missing. I don't think we would have beaten Wigan if it it wasn't for that Simms fire upfront. A great pack leader.

It would be great if Tariq came over but I doubt he would at this point in time with the SO links mentioned.

Really excited though with the Gidley, Lineham and hopefully Sandow signings. There's no excuse now not to get a season for ticket next year.
