Joel at 5/1 each way is well worth a go. The 1st 4 count and you get a quarter of 5/1 so by my calculations you get evens for Joel to be in the top 4 try scorers.

I am surprised Joel is at 5-1, worth a punt especially as he is back playing outside Bridgey.

Charnley is a top winger but plays better alongside Goulding. Mainly due to Goulding being a classic style centre how plays solely to make his winger look good. In Charleys case, look better than he already is.

A wingers job is mainly to finish.
And his finishing is only as good as his last pass.
Every great winger in history had a great centre in side of him.

I note we've never had a great winger outside of Atkins, yet there has been a high turnover stock potential.

I say again...a winger is as good as his last pass.

Before fans get back on the soap box, I'm not trying to start another Atkins bashing topic. Yes Atkins has improved. NO I wouldn't swap him yet, but I am encouraged that Wheeler will put added pressure on his game. That is something that has gone a miss on that left side in the last since Matt King moved on.

TBH swapping Atkins with Evans looked so natural and I was disappointed that TS didn't exercise that option on the odd occasion.

I can't help thinking you guys are expecting a lot from wheeler, what have you seen from him in the last 2/3 seasons to make you think he'll even pull a shirt on more than a handful of times?

He seems to play very well indeed at the HJ.

He and Walsh ran the show last Feb.

Literally only one person on here thinks Wheeler will be a regular feature next season.

you seem to be making up a few things I haven't said lately.

Looking at wheelers injurys last season, most seem to be niggles... you have to wonder if half his problem is mental.

I dont think anyone has seen enough of him to make a judgement (even duckie who saw him do a sidestep once).... none of the saints fans seem to know, as they just havent seen him play enough rugby league.

if we can condition him properly so he stops breaking down, then we could have a decent player on our hands... its a low risk signing that could turn out to be a good one.. OR he could just carry on from where he left off at saints, never properly fit and always on the treatment table... in which case its bye bye wheeler.

I've admired Wheelers talent since he and Gaskell too came onto the scene, but hated it too.

No doubt about it he hasn't played enough games. And that may be a blessing that kept Saints from being consistently good.

I let Wheeler answer all his critics like Bridge did.

When you say you saw Wheeler RD....was it the one who looked like Quasimodo's trimmer twin brother, that is Lomax not Wheeler.

He didn't play outside Goulding at all last season but, as MD says, would have been top try scorer had it not been for a long injury. I think I'm right in saying his try per game ratio was his best yet. Make your own mind up if that says more about him or Gelling who was his main centre partner.

I'd like to see the stats for left wing / right wing. My gut feeling is that more are scored on the right but if so why?? Doesn't make sense.
