today, kick the goal, i dont know if it was higham that called it, but it was a baaad decision.

We missed our "clever" players at the end there as the sensible choice was to take the two. If Briers or Hodgson had been playing you can guarantee that the kick on the last that was messed up right towards the end would have been booted into touch for the scrum.

well that was one of the things i was was worried about today with so many senior players/playmakers out, who would be talking and taking charge, there were one or two occasions when GOB found himself out of place at the last tackle.

Anyone else think it was the better idea to take the tap . We tap the penalty and they have to score by running 90Meters or we kick the penalty and they possibly get the ball from a short kickoff and have to run 40metres

With 30 something seconds to go when the penalty was given I'm pretty sure that the hooter would have sounded before the kick at goal was even taken. It's not as if it was a 'junior' player who suffered a rush of blood to the head, it was a senior player who should have known better.

Couldn't believe they didn't take the 2 to run down the clock - what made it worse was that Higham knocked on in the 2nd drive handing the ball back to them.

The trouble with this is salford could get the ball back from the short kick off giving the good field position to attack our line.

Exactly. You're allowed 30 seconds for a kick at goal, so there simply would not have been a restart. Tony Smith called the decision to tap the ball "a little bit naive", but I'd say it was unprofessional and symptomatic of the lack of respect we showed Salford. Tapping the ball was up there with Carvell's offload against Saints in terms of sheer stupidity.

I was a little disappointed in Higham. Bearing in mind O'Brien is the only halfback on the pitch for us, I thought he gave him little opportunity with the quality of ball and his decision making from dummy half. Conversely, it is a good learning exercise for O'Brien to be more forceful/demanding of his hooker to give him the ball.

I thought in terms of combination and communication, gob worked much better with Dwyer. And we went a bit off the boil when mickey came on.
