Quote ="sally cinnamon"In fairness to the RFL - they gave an opportunity to an expansion club. The expansion club was proven to be not viable. The RFL took a risk and it didn't pay off, but should they be criticised for giving the Crusaders a chance?
I suppose the anti expansionists like me were proved right again, I'm sure my view on the Crusaders coming in in 2009 was something along the lines of "good luck to them but I bet they go bust within 5 years".
If they want to bring in new teams they should be in areas where RL is reasonably well established like in France.'"
I'm assuming the normally well informed Sal has his fishing rod out on this one, but the France thing has, to a greater extent, failed.
Hence my original thread of about a month ago, when it was announced that Tolouse had gone back to their own league, with their 'tails between their legs', in an embarrased stylee.
Expansion is not working (atm). Let's leave it (at least 10 years) and maybe revisit, WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT.
After all, we've still got Quins (and similarly Wakey) playing to 'one man and his dog' crowds every fortnight.
Hudds have just played a semi, where hardly any of their own turned up, and Bradford are only playing to inflated crowds, simply because of a bargain season ticket scheme, which even the tightest of Yorkshiremen would find iot difficult to turn down.
