Discounting left and right side of position, be interesting if Grix could compete in each position during a season. He'd struggle at prop and wing most i feel, but excellent to have in a squad.

Vinnie Anderson played everywhere except fullback I think.

Motu Tony has played pretty much everywhere for us except prop.

Hasn't Bridge played as many positions, most this season - , loose, stand off, and I know he's filled in at 7 before, and I'm sure he's played 9 during a game, as well as filling in on the wing, and on Sunday went to full back for Brett?

I was thinking Bridge, but then again he's not really done anything at 6 or 7. If anything his performance goes down. I feel with Grix he plays at the same good level in any position.

I understand what you mean but it doesn't matter really does it? Brough went from Scotland, to England, to Scotland and back to England.

King? He's played on the Wing, Centre and had a stint at Second Row.


I remember Briers playing Full Back Once, I think it was against Bradford in the Semi Final of the Powergen Challenge Cup at Huddersfield a while back.

Briers came on at Full back either this season or the season before can't remember who against however

There was a season (2001) where we decided Briers was full-back. Lasted two games in that position.

That was at the end of the Cas match when Hodgson went off injured.

2002 was the illfated experiment, but its not been uncommon to see briers fill in at 1 mid game due to injury.

Versatility is the key nowadays. Generally we need players to play 1 plus another position. Bridge does it well (apart from half) put him at 1 or 13 he does well. Grix has been fab though and our most consistent this season in my opinion. You can literally play him in any position the park and he will fill in admirably doing his very best whatever the circumstances. You get the sense he generally loves being tested each week through playing different positions/roles within the side, he revels in those situations when he is under the microscope. Each week he has grown and grown more in stature in the side, he is quickly developing into one of our indispensable players.

grix has been great for us in every position, as people have said any player can player a lot of positions but i think versatility is when your performance levels don't drop when filling in that position.
