| I apologise if there has been another thread elsewhere, and please don't ban me for starting a thread (pls don't gloat on here Wigan fans) but I just wondered people's opinions on the tackle. Personally I didn't see anything at all wron with it (unlike an earlier tackle which was third man on etc). Two men in the tackle, one high one low. But evidently your coach didn't see it the same, and made some comments which I thought were below him.
Again, apologies if there is another thread on this.

| 2 men in the tackle, one high, one low, as i've said before, if coley didnt go for the legs, he could have made another 10 meters. obviously the weight of coley could have been the killing blow, but fair and in the rules for me, just the "wrong time of day" moment. If it was deacon instead of coley it could have been different etc, one of them things. Hope he gets better and its not a serious injury.

| It's a tough one to call... its been going on in the game for a long time. When I was in school we got taught one man to get around the body to stop an offload and the other grabs the legs to stop the man moving. SL teams use it every game, hell most even have 3-4 in the tackle now. It's just one of those unfortunate things, it can be awkward because the player can fall to the ground in a dodgy way. However, it is legal... a few weeks ago there was another awkward one, can't remember who but a player grabbed the legs and he fell backwards where he could of done a serious injury (Eddie mensioned it). Not sure much can be done about it, it was a shame for wire that it happened to be the player that was changing the game... Solomona was running riot down that left hand side and he ran over Charnley.

Was it in the Catalan/Leeds game? or hull/leeds?

| It was a perfectly decent tackle. A lighter player, or solomona himself could have hit the deck and just carried on.
Who knows why he was injured, angle of fall, strength of tackle, weight, age, flexablity, conditioning, hardness of ground, etc etc etc.
It's just a random event, the only way to do any thing about it is to make the sport none contact and tag rugby, would just not be the same for me.
The RFL have lots of rules about what tackles are allowed and what are not, but in the end people choose to play and legitimate tackles should not have any fussy made about them. Sympathy for the players injury, but the tackle was fine.

| I don't know what TS saw that others didn't,t, it seemed an OK tackle to me. The only possible cause of the injury was that Coley clamped the legs/knees together to bring him to ground whilst the other Wigan player was on the upper body.
This type of tackle is ok if you surrender to it, maybe Solomona tried to twist out of it which created the injury, only Solomona will know.

| I think the RFL need to ban that type of tackle where you have an orthodox one upstairs and one downstairs, the 2 Wigan players involved should get at least a 5 game ban as well.
This type of tackle is happening every week in SL where you get one upstairs and one downstairs, its slowly been creeping into the game for over 100 years now.

| Yeah. I didnt see a prob. It's RL and twists in the tackle can happen. I didnt see any malice. Just unfortunate.

| Looks fine to me. I had another look this morning, Coley went in at the leg, which was fine, as he made contact, Solomona twisted his leg slightly, nothing really to do with the tacklers. The combination of timing was the issue, Coley had committed to the tackle, Solomona had committed to turning in the tackle. End of Story

| It was a difficult one to judge. But because Coley is a very dirty player, I'd say he went into the tackle to intentionally hurt, and cause injury to Solomona.

| Don't think it was too bad..I think Coley (although he can swing a few at times) was just trying to stop Solamona's progress.. It wasn't like the Lima one at Leeds where he just dived at the players knee...
I do think there will be more injuries with this type of tackle though.. I suppose we have to live with it..

| The reason this is being made a big deal, is because Wigan have been injuring players with these type of tackles all season.

| My first reaction was it was filth, mainly because Solo was having such an impact on the game and Wigan do have a rep for it. Having seen the replay it doesn't look bad at all - just unlucky I guess.

| Having watched it again on iplayer... there was bugger all wrong. What was Coley supposed to do? Let him make another 10 yards? If you watch it Solomona was still moving so someone had to grab his legs.
