Anybody else noticed the new road signs coming into Warrington:

'Home of the Warrington Wolves'

Certainly on A57 coming from Bold Heath, done know of any more. Looks good, well done to the council, Saints have had signs for a few years.

I noticed this Sunday morning when coming off the M62 at Birchwood. Was it the council though or yet another thing the club has done in agreement with the council to try and drive more interest in the town?

They've put them up in preparation for you winning the title one day no doubt.

No, the reason is to remind people who live in Warrington which team they SHOULD be supporting.

The Saints ones are double-sided though, on the back they have:

"Good Bye Kyle"

No on the back they read, 'Lucky you , what abut us poor lot that are still here.'

Keep it going guys what could the board say as people are leaving St Helens.

There's one in Daresbury as you come in from Runcorn (A56?)

The money would have been better off spent on filling potholes and general Council services rather than this tat.

A49 (winwick road) near the M62 junction has one as well.

or repairing about 30 smashed bus stops every saturday/sunday morning.

Total waste of money, akin to those signs over kingsway Brige (River Mersey), and that pathetic cycleway (all 300yds of it), on Station Road/Blackbrook Ave, Padgate, that's took 5 MONTHS to do. Ironically enough, if the council cared to look at the road surface next to this cycleway, they'd be mortified, and be on the phone to the Highways Agency, to sort this out. For those who are lucky enough to avoid Station Road/Blackrook Ave, it's twinned with Tanners Ln (near the HJ), and it's a joke

Here, here. I'd have the little scrotes, who are responsible for this, spend a night in those comfortable rooms at the bottom of Arpley Street, to think about their actions.

i don't know why they bother with them....it must cost them an absolute fortune to keep replacing all the glass. The council should just cut their losses and bring back big concrete ones.

Only problem is it looks reasonably tacky (although i've only seen m62 b'wood exit one, admittedly). And by tacky I mean as though a child has done it.

Should have 'Challenge cup 2009/2010 winners!' on it too or something. Especially the motorway exit in question as its extremely busy during peak driving periods.

Why have St Helens got a sign ? They dont have a Super League Team, the "franchise" is now being housed by Halton B.C.

I've noticed the sign on Winwick Rd a few weeks ago. I actually think it looks really good but totally agree that they should say something about being the back to back challenge cup winners. The pies have 'home of the super league champions' on their sign so think we should take pride in a very special team that can back up titles (meow, meow)

People are really complaining about the council spending some money on promoting a positive aspect of the local community? Really? In the past the criticisms have always been that the council/club do [inothing[/i to raise awareness of the club to the Manchester/Liverpool spillover residents.

I despair, you just can't win with some people. It might also be worth pointing out that the council won't just have one big pot of money and that's it, they have budgets, they'll have budgets for road maintenance, for road signage which does need updating every once in a while, and for every other council operated area. Those budgets are set and for designated departments. Complaining about a council spending money on some updated road signs instead of on bin collections isn't any different to the idiots who tell traffic police that they should be out catching murderers, they're different departments! It's not like you've got the head of CID pulling you over for doiing 34 in a 30!
