| There's a few of us that fancy a trip to Warrington between Crimbo and new year to sample a few of your towns finest ales. we're planing on doing the Tavern,Porters,Albion,Lower Angel and Ring of Bells. Is there any other town centre real ale pub that's worth trying?

| You've just virtually listed them all
I don't include Wetherspoons, as they always serve "Cockney" pints i.e. no head, or tiny head with bubbly froth, and their real ale is served far too cold

Actually it will be a day out in Warrington start about dinner time and will be jumping on train back to Wigan about 9ish (that's the blue bit of Wigan). We go on real ale drinking trips all over the place, sometimes it's easy to miss the gems on your doorstep.
Thanks for the input fellas and you jd.

Kids and beer, eh! Stick to your chemical wee
Back on track, The Tavern is your best bet. 8 cask ales on (virtually all the time), most expensive £2.30, kept really well, and some attractive bar ladies too.

| haven't been to the new Wetherspoons yet (The Looking Glass, previously Yate's, previously The Odeon) - how does it compare to the originial one (Friar Penketh) ? Anything to distinguish the two ? Any decent ales ? (or best to avoid and go to the Lower Angel next door for that...?)
FAO Original Poster - how was your Wire pub crawl ? where did you end up ?

Not as wide a selection of ale if you ask me
and i have been stung by absolutely revolting ales there once or twice. There was a JD wtherspoons one for the world cup that was rank.
It obviously isn't as big as the friar penketh. IT does feel cramped but the verander there on a sunny day is always worth a visit.
