| 1. A new Bob Anderton OR
2. A new Brian Bevan/Andrew Johns
(ie. a world-class administrator or a world class-player)

Bob Anderton was Warrington Secretary from 1920 all the way into the sixties, presiding over the building of Wilderspool and being one of the people who built up the great Wire sides of the forties and fifties. He was also the Manager of at least one Australasian tour.

| Brian Bevan all day long.....
If we had another one of those I could live with queues at the food concessions or a poorly run club shop....

I'm with you there as a fan, but I'd love another Dave Swanton. That's nothing against the current staff, just thought he was very forward-thinking with his marketing, at a time when we actually had a pretty poor product on the pitch.

At the time quite a bit of our product off the pitch was poor too. Swanton was merely the media man. Since he went to Sale RU he's been struggling a bit. WE are now a much more professional organisation.

| Personally a great man/team/setup off the field will naturally attract your better players. Behind the scenes for me

| Always a man behind the scenes.
Who would you say had more of an impact on Warrington, great players like Allan Langer and Andrew Johns, or Simon Moran and the board?

| You have to get the Administration right in all departments first, it is here that I think Warrington have made the biggest strides over the last 6 - 10 years and that is now reaping the rewards on the park and also in terms of player development.

| I tend to think the Anderton line of thinking is correct, personally.
My thinking is also that the players, like Bevan or in the case of the more "modern" player, Johns, would hopefully follow. He was a great servant to Warrington in a wonderful period for the club.

| So we had Bob Anderton...who built Wilderspool
then I suppose we had Ossie Davies...who oversaw the Murphy trophy winning era
then Peter higham and his team of 80's superstars....up to Jiffy in the 90's
Then Peter Deakin who oversaw the turning of Professionalism....and the new stadium
and Now Simon Moran......
so Plenty of great administrators......sort out which one did best with the money and talent they had available.
but the list of Brian Bevan type players stops at ...Brian Bevan...so I stick with my original thought of another Brian Bevan please....

| It's a different game now with a salary cap and agents.
If there was a new Brian Bevan type player today, when it came to renewal of contract time we would hear stories in the papers of how he "may want to test himself in the best league in the world" or "would not rule out trying out union" and would end up negotiating a contract which ate up half our salary cap and forced us to compromise on the rest of the squad.....other talented young players would have to be released to accommodate him. Then in the end we might get a few more seasons out of him before he went off to union anyway with us all calling him Judas.
The odds of having a player stay with us for a decade scoring 60 tries a season like Bevan did are now remote.
I'm not saying I wouldn't want great players but I'd rather have a world class administrator setting up a club that would be at the top for decades and have a team of strong players every year, than one world class player.
I suppose it's like if you had a rich grandparent who said to you, I'll buy you a house or I'll buy you a Ferrari, the house would not be the sexy option but it would be the better one to take.

Yes Yes Solid foundations are the key a top class back room and build and build bigger and stronger youth teams and squads of players prolong are time at the top and don't slid back or it’s hard to get back to the top table as we all well know us older ones that is.
