| It's probably a bit early to look at this but 26 points remain up for grabs in SL. We are 4 points + modest points difference behind the leaders, Wigan.
So mathematically (assuming neutral points difference over the games and no draws) we need to win 3 more games than Wigan from the last 13 remaining to secure top spot. I guess it's possible but is it likely?
Of the key games remaining both Wire and Wigan have 6 home games and 7 away remaining. Wigan have yet to play Wire and Saints at home and Leeds away. We have to play Leeds and Saints at home and Wigan away.

| We win 2 of those, including the Wigan one and they lose one of the others, then it'd be nip and tuck. St Helens might win the rest of their matches and pip us both!

Indeed. They also have 7 home games from 13.

| Depends on who can keep their players on the field and avoid injury which is a random, unpredictable factor. It is a big blow that Myler will probably miss 5 or 6 of these games.

| Achievable yes but not very likely imo. Surely you would be more than happy with a top 4 finish after missing out on the top 8 last year?

| Saints were 6 behind us (Leeds) with less games to play the other year (200icon_cool.gif but they still finished top.

| Of course its achievable. Its only a 4 point gap which can disappear within a few weeks. All 3 of us have a good chance but obviously as it stands we should be favourites. Still 26 more points up for grabs, so alot still to happen. Those games between Wigan, Saints and Warrington will have a huge impact on who finishes top.

| Four of Saints away games though are Wigan , Wire ,Leeds and Hull, i know saints on there day are capable of winning all four of those but its not a great run in to have ..

I also think that it depends on which teams make it through to the semi's/final of the challenge cup?
I actually believe our best chance of finishing top of the pile is probably getting beat at Bradford in the next round of the cup!

| Finishing top won't make it any easier. If Wigan come top they will probably play leeds(4th) in the first game and when it comes to club call they'll most likely have a choice of Leeds again, saints or wire and that's just to get to old trafford. Whoever wins it this year will have really earned it and if you don't make the top four you haven't got much of a chance.

| Beating Wigan at the DW is possible but the main factor which might then swing it Wolves way is that our games against the remaining big sides are at home.

| Of course top spot is achievable, whether we will finish top is another question. Personally i don`t think we will, were still short in a few areas. Tony Smith is still relatively new to the job, it will take more time for him to mould is into the finished article where you can say confidently that we can beat all of the top sides on a regular basis.

| Haven't you also got Bradford away in the league? They are the quiet achievers and are sneaking up unnoticed.
They have however been very fortunate with injuries so far this season.

Yeh i noticed them sneaking up recently on Crusaders, they were that sneaky that you could hardly notice them.

Their last 7 games have been against Crusaders twice, Catalan who are bottom of the league, Wakefield who have been in free fall since Brough left and Hull KR at home in super league. In the cup they have played Dewsbury and Leigh.
They havn`t been exactly stretched have they ? Lets see where they are after they have played Saints, a currently in form Leeds compared to the last one they played and Wigan away. I don`t think they will win one of those games if all those sides are close to full strength.

| But we're half way through the season and every club has played each other once (plus the Magic weekend games) so the league table is a reasonable guide to the first half of the season, not just the last seven games.
Let's be honest Bradford should have beaten Leeds at Headingley. As I said they have been pretty luck with injuries this season, I think I read somewhere that they had only used 20 players so far, which is amazing considering how physically demanding the game is.

I'd still like to see us parade the League Leaders Shield around the HJ/The Stoop last game of the season though.

| I'd love to finish top. I don't care whether it's the hub cap or not. In fact, I'd rather finish top than win the Challenge Cup this year. Grand Final winners would be my number 1 wish, of course.
