| Hi everyone,
Me and the Mister have tickets to the WCC and were thinking of making a day of it: train to Hudds for the Wire game then on to Leeds for the WCC. Can anyone tell me how easy/difficult that will be on public transport? Neither of us have been to Elland Road before.
Thanks
Rugbychick

| Huddersfield to Leeds is a 20 min train journey direct. Don't know how far the stations are from either stadium.

| Huddersfield is about a 15-20 minute walk from the station, depending on how little your legs are.
There is also the George Hotel just outside the station. Some quality photos and history about our game in there.
Not sure about getting to Headingly from the station though.
Please keep this thread updated, sounds like a good day out that.

| I worked in Leeds several years ago (14!!) and if my memory serves the station is the right side of the city centre, so you don't have to negotiate the centre, but it is too far to walk. Probably less than 10 minutes in a taxi. It will make for a great day out!

| You are looking at a good half hour walk from Leeds train station to Elland Road.
Heres a link with some detail on the ground...

| Hudds train station is a nice little fiteen minute walk from the Galpharm, if you time it well and catch a train to Leeds, you'd need to get the bus to Elland Road. Getting a bus in Leeds is a ballache, though, and when we got the bus for the England-Aus game, they weren't running from the bus station, but from a bus stand five minutes away. There is a huge taxi rank outide Leeds station, though, if you prefer that.
Getting back will do you, though, as the last direct train to Warrington is about 9.10. You'd have to check if there are later ones going to Manchester and see if you can change to Warrington.

| The only advice I can offer is this: try not to need a wee while you're at Elland Rd, the number of ladies toilets is woefully inadequate. I missed the first 15 minutes of the second half of England-Aus game while queuing [iforever[/i.
I'm still miffed about this 2 months later, apparently.

that is due to Yorkshiremen not allowing Women to go t'match as footy is a mans game so they felt the need not to put in many ladies loos. Now get back t'kitchen & make me some pie wench

| We walked from the City Centre to Elland Road for the WCC last season and it took us about 45 mins (but we weren't rushing!). For getting back to the city centre afterwards their was bus service that was pretty cheap from outside the ground.

In which case there is more than likely to be a pretty cheap bus service from the city centre to the ground. Im sure it would take much to find out the times and routes of the leeds bus service.

| I've been to both grounds on the train and it's a doddle. Huddersfield station is a 15 minute walk to the ground as said above and it's a straight road so impossible to miss. Just follow the main road downwards when you come out the station.
Hudderfield to Leeds is a short train journey and Elland Road isn't that far from the city centre but if you don't know the way to walk then the best bet is to get a match bus from under the bridge down from the station. Just ask someone at the information desk in the station to point you in the direction of the bus to Elland Road and you'll be fine. You can then get one of the same buses (there's loads of them put on) back into town after the game.
I live in Manchester so know there's plenty of later trains to there from Leeds and the last one from Piccadilly to Warrington is about 11.15 so you shouldn't have a problem getting back. That's during the week though so double check your train times if it's on a Sunday.

There is also a 24 hour bus from picadilly if they get stuck.
