| Best thing about this game is not having to listen to Wilkin Danny McGuire is ok though.

| Leeds have finally found a bit of line speed in defence, but have left it too late.

| So what’s the deal with Leeming? If Clark chases a better contract than we can offer, is Kruise worth a punt?

Word going about is he is off to North Queensland, Wigan would like him also.

I suppose there is logic in it, to think he may have a contract ‘get out’ clause if a NRL team come in for him. Would explain how he could get an immediate release.

| I remember watching Leeming & Dwyer tear us & others apart last year. When I watch O'Connor & Bentley shovelling the ball out without too much threat I think ... why?

I don't rate Leeming at all, we would be far better off just sticking with walker and giving an academy player a chance to deputise IMO.

There’s obviously some sort of attitude issue in the background too. I can’t see Leeds just releasing him without slapping a transfer fee on his head, unless they really wanted rid of him asap.
I thought he had looked one of their better players the last couple of years, but then again they’ve generally looked a poor team anyway (despite the surprise grand final appearance).

| Well this is turning into a basket case of a season. I know it’s early days but the results… how do you go from beating Saints away to losing to a Cas team that looked forlorn?
Is the changing room at Leeds more fractured than at Cas?
Having said all that both teams looked disjointed and both sets of halves looked lost me they had never played with their partners before.
I’m afraid both Widdop and Austin’s best days are well behind them.
Ps when is a 40/20 not a 40/20? When it’s kicked on Cas’s postage stamp of a pitch.

| That wasn't a great game. Cas showed more desire, which was the difference.

Let's be honest, it really wasn't difficult to tear us apart last season!

| Re Austin and Widdop. You can argue Widdop has proven himself at the top level consistently over his NRL career. He’s just not able to steer a team on his own these days.
I don’t think Austin was ever more than a flash in the pan. He had some amazing footwork in his first few months with us that seemed to set him apart as a real x-factor player. But it fizzled out to nothing, even alongside Widdop.
The Austin-Sezer pairing must be the most overrated combination in Super League history (and that’s saying something coming from a Warrington fan). The media keep reminding us of their time together at Canberra, but if they were really that great why were they promptly shipped out?

| The Austin/Sezer thing is a weird one - they're in the same team but they don't seem to play together at all! You seem to get 1 of them doing something, or the other one, never linking up together (from what little I've seen).
As for Widdop, I think he's still got the rugby brain/skills, it's just the enthusiasm that seems to be lacking. Be interesting to know how he fits in with the rest of the Cas squad

This seems harsh to me. His body language has looked good when I've seen them, which is last night and last week in a well-beaten side. Ultimately they have a limited squad: Mellor, Miller and Fonua wouldn't get a game at Featherstone this season.

| tough game to watch that one last night... spent alot of time looking at my phone rather than the TV.
I did notice some tremendous defensive work from Widdop though.
Also made a big difference to Cas having Westerman back... at times, he brought the opponent to their knees.

| The referee had a decent game last night. According to our friend Saddened, this is due to Paul Wellens emailing the rfl and correcting them, so refs have now upped their game. It's only right that they listen to wellens, he was a superb referee in his playing days.

I can’t decide whether this is another saucy Westerman joke or a serious analysis of defensive technique.
