i thought you were 'regular' or have i mis-heard how you've got a sore shoulder.

Teams rarely start tournaments like a house of fire and go on to win it. Wasn't it Spain in the last world cup that looked awesome until the knockout stages where they came unstuck. I'm sure Argentina did the same too. Many USA players play, or have played, in England and as such seem to play above themselves (similar to our opening game against the Irish in 1990 - also 1-1).

As for chances, I would far rather be creating them and missing instead of creating nothing. And Rob Green had one of those moments that happens to every goalkeeper in the world. He was just unlucky that it was at the World Cup, but I would far rather it happens in the opening game at 1-0 up rather than the knockout stages at 0-0 with 15 fifteen minutes to go.

Obviously I would have prefered a win, but considering it was the first game, and against the USA, I have no worries so far. We will qualify comfortabley, probably in first place and go on to beat Ghana or Serbia in the second round before coming unstuck on penalties in the quarters

The eventual winners of the last 6 World Cups all started their campaigns with a win, scoring at least two goals and in all but one case with a winning margin of at least two goals.

England are pap, 2 more games to go and not qualifying and we can get the red tops reverting to the usual xenophobia rather than England bashing.

Fair enough. It was the performances rather than the actual results I was thinking of. Italy for example also drew 1-1 against the USA in the group stages in 2006. Also in 2006, Spain kicked off with a 4-0 win, 3-1 win and 1-0 win before going down 3-1 to France in the first knockout game. I would rather start slow and build instead of peaking in game one then fading away!

When Italy won it in 88 or 98 they drwe all of there group games.

I take back all I have said regarding Englands qualification for the knockout stages. Watching this game it is clear that England have absolutely no chance in their games against footballs 'Superpowers' Algeria and Slovenia!
