In terms of disruption, reputation, how it’s been handled and the impact on squad morale, this must be up there in terms of the worst signing we’ve ever made. What an utter shambles from the club.

| It was McGuires unprofessionalism ultimately which has caused this situation... If three others professionalism can't see it then maybe they should just follow him out ... Although I don't remember josh following players /mates out of the door in Australia at st George when the COVID barbecue scandal happened and they were released

Is the view that Thewlis is good enough under the high ball? He does drop a few, last one being Castleford leading to a try.

| May be a mile off here but if it is Dufty and Vaughan that we are talking about just let them go now. We are not going to get relegated so let’s learn if the young ones can cut the mustard with a sustained run through rest of season. Do that and we can then look at the recruitment spots that we really need, just a thought. Oh 3 you said I’m guessing Drinkwater the other one.

I'm presuming it is... Maybe they are of the view what he said isn't offensive in Australia and so he should have been supported... But same offence twice?... If so ...off they go ... Particularly if this is causing team disruption

| I'd be buzzing with Daine Laurie but he'll get picked up by an NRL club i reckon, another moronic decision by the Tigers to let him go.
But on the other hand i would like to see Thewlis develop at fullback.
I've honestly had enough of the club now and i'm gonna take a break from watching it and following league in general. So all the best fellas might chat again in the new year

OK, then would you drop Thewlis, and replace him with a player who is the worse player in the League, when trying to catch a high ball?

Does Dufty drop more than Thewlis?
Clearly Powell does not think Thewlis is ready for fullback if the recruitment for next year is true.
We look more solid with Ratch and fullback. Put Dufty in the halves.

Sorry, I was referring to Russell not being able to catch a high ball, if Thewlis was to be dropped .

Just heard the same re Vaughan not being happy, I believe all is not rosey. The Aussie boys unhappy with the clubs treatment of McGuire whilst some of the other lads are still good friends with Charnley so I believe there’s a bit of a divide in the camp at the minute.

In terms of KFP and how this club is now run - does this McGuire saga (regardless of his actions) just highlight how poor things are? From the club not commenting and leaving Powell out to dry, the pathetic 'most of it is untrue' response to McGuire Snr's post and a clear lack of support for him at the tribunal that has just completely derailed our season and whatever slim chance we had of resurrecting it.
During the Gatcliffe days you might hear the odd rumour about this and that but you'd be pretty confident in your belief that the club was being professionally run and all players/staff were being dealt with in the right way - not many wanted to go home then. Now I have absolutely no confidence that things are being done in anywhere near to the right manner. I have a couple of reliable sources and I shake my head at some of the stuff I hear.
This all stops with the the board and KFP and if the board want to make us a serious club and not a laughing stock then they need to remove KFP and a couple of them step back from meddling - they then may reap the rewards of the money they plough in.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the McGuire issue (and I like many others have my own opinion there), I do wonder if the fall out from this if the other Aussies want out will be a reluctance of Australians, possibly even other imports, to sign for Warrington going forward?

Spot on!
I’m no Powell apologist, but he’s been completely failed by the leadership, not just on this, but on the bin fire that he allegedly inherited. If there was any truth to this, there should have been a statement to the season ticket holders at the end of 2021 acknowledging the position that the club were in, signposting that there was a significant amount of turmoil coming up and that they had faith in the project.
Powell has been sent out to bat alone. Including confronting the fans at Cas away last year. If the leadership had any spine whatsoever they would have stood beside him, admitting past failure and encouraging empathy with the current playing group and coaching staff.
Part of the current frustration is borne out of unaddressed issues, concerns and speculation. I don’t expect a response to every dodgy tweet, but the past 18 months has been a shambles, for that to by without statement just loads the pressure on the coaches and players.

The Maguire incident *may* have been handled professionally but the public position and statements were awful.
The recruitment *may* be brilliant and inspired (and really clever signing a player when the other suitor is live on Sky) but we have a lot of home sickness, turkey signings, and we pay other clubs to take our players off us.
The coaching *may* be top notch but we are inconsistent and look like we have never played together at times and as far away from a GF win as we ever have been in the last 20 years.
KF *may* be a genius RL administator but he comes across as cheap and gimmicky.
Our board *may* be successful in their respective businesses but they are not successful in creating a winning RL club.

I think people are genuinely trying to come up with answers as to why a club (with owners that have £100M+ personal wealth) have won 1 trophy in 12 seasons and some would suggest are the laughing stock of the league.
I don't remember any calamities under Gatcliffe's reign? I always considered him steady, if not a little dull, and a safe pair of hands.

Would Moran, Middleton, Lomax put KFP in daily charge of their main business interests? He was a cheap appointment (to offset Draper's cost) and I've felt nothing but embarrassment as a Wire fan during his tenure.

| I'm far from an apologist for the board ..but this one for once isn't just about them ...It's appearing that there is a circus with players seemingly throwing toys out of the pram dependent on which side they are on ... Bottom line McGuire breached professional conduct and was let go ... That's it... If others are unhappy about it then exercise the choice to leave but don't think there's an alternative involving complaining... Josh McGuire needed to take ownership for his behaviour and couldn't to the point he did it again and was let go ... Similarly the other players need To take ownership for their own actions and decisions but They shouldn't stay just for a paycheck if they can't acknowledge there are expected standards of conduct in the competition that their mate by consequence of the hearing breached and was subsequently released having got himself banned for the equivalent of nearly three quarters of a season

I agree with this bit 100%.
But who is allowing this circus to develop without being addressed? I put this squarely on KF. The handling of this entire issue, from what we can see on the outside, has been poor in my view.
Top leaders earn their corn by showing judgement, experience and decisiveness to smoothly overcome turbulence like this. Instead it seems the issue has festered, we have a split camp and an effective down-tools.

That's what I was trying to get it - McGuire's behaviour and the alleged Aussie players reaction is not good at all but a strong/well managed club would've navigated these choppy waters well rather than ploughing the good ship Wire straight into the rocks. I do feel sorry for Powell in this episode.

The trouble is that no matter how bad Karl is at his job, which lets be honest is pretty bad, Simon Moran actually likes/rates him.
Maybe Mr Moran should focus more on getting Stone Roses back together for a second time and give someone else the final say at the HJ.

We can like it or lump it.
