We aren't getting a 'superstar' player, I'm sure of that. And I'm sort of glad. Apart from Williams, every 'superstar' has been a dud. Powell seems to do very well in making average players perform at a much higher standard, and I'm looking forward to watching whoever he brings over.

Did anyone else read the quote form Cas coach about mental issues from earlier injuries as effectively calling him a “wuss”?

If we asked very nicely, I'm sure they'd loan him to us for a couple of seasons.

How he made himself a very reasonable career in the NRL is absolutely baffling.

Widdop was a good player in the NRL. His best days were behind him when he reached us and injuries and Covid disruptions didn’t help.

I agree. But the version of Widdop that we have seen in Super League has been mediocre, to say the least - AND he's been mediocre on some very decent wages.

I think since his arrival in England, Widdop has had a few personal issues regarding his family and not seeing the kids.
I know he’s a professional player but things like this don’t help plus recurring shoulder injuries.

I’ve not really kept up with how he’s been doing the last couple of years in the NRL. Don’t remember him standing out in the World Cup, but can’t be too bad if he’s still making the squad.

It is all a bit strange.
During the game against Saints in the first half mamo tore them apart on 3 or 4 occasions only to go and dish out a dodgy pass and turn over possession. He didnt take to the field in the second half and I didnt see him struggling with an injury.

Only my opinion but I reckon Radford blasted him at half time and something went on. Mamo is a likeable fella and probably had a lot of support in the dressing room. A week later Radford leaves the club.
Suits Cas to call it a medical retirement as it would free up a quota spot etc
