| Next week it looks like Musgrove & Philbin out. Never know if Vaughan might pick up a ban. Best get a few boys back.

| Disappointing to start both halves so poorly because there was a lot to like in what followed. I didn't necessarily seee what Tai offered compared to Wrench; Wrench has got pace and very good left-to-right hands; could have come in handy in those last ten minutes.

| I can't decide if today showed progress or not. Games like that last year we just went out with a whimper, think the Wigan cup and league games. At least we have seemed to start developing a backbone, but like karetaker says, I'm getting sick of giving them props for doing what any aspiring team should do.

It's not like flicking a switch and the light suddenly turns on. Under any new coach, the team has to be given time to implement new ideas and structures. There's plenty of improvement to be made, but I'm seeing improvement and a bit of fight which I haven't seen for a good few years.

| I think the big positive was that we managed to get back in the game but an 18 point deficit in such a short time must have come as much of a shock to the players as it did to the fans. We must be encouraged by the resilience & it's great to see the young lads improving.

As a club we should know that the academy will win us leagues, not the charlatans brought over in the past from the nrl. If burgess sorts this out I have no doubt we will be in a far better position than we have been in when he took over. We are spreading the ball about and at least trying it might not happen over night, it rarely does but let's keep the faith

| Everyone is saying we give an 18 point start that beat us…
Partly right.
Not only did we give 18 (3 try) unanswered points from the go in the first half, but also 16 unanswered (3 try) unanswered points in the 2nd half too! (Correct me if I’m wrong, trying to use my memory of the match as opposed to looking it up).
The defence line speed was the slowest I’ve seen from any team this season, and that includes Hull FC.
That was utter dog shat from Warrington. Utter lazy performances, players thinking they’d won SL in March yet again.
The reality is, that performance duplicated at Leeds will see us well beaten again and smashed at St Helens.
34 unanswered aggregate of points scored against us in the opening 25 minutes of rugby in both half’s.
Utterly disgraceful. Pathetic even.
The right side defence frailties that was blown out by Salford and jumped on by every team we’ve played since, has been a go to shambles all season and not addressed.
In attack the only player positive 100% attitude today was from Hayes King and Currie.
The most disappointing is Thewlis, who suddenly has lost his mojo. Never backing himself down the wing. He was a favourite of mine. This season, he’s gone, one great try against London!
A reality check Wire…you’re nowhere near where you think you are.
The only team positive in the whole game from Wire, was they at least found away to get back into the game and put themselves in a position to win it.

| An entertaining game. Some backbone shown. Pack needs bolstering with some big bodies. Plenty to work on and remember we are building from a very low base. We have got into the poor state over years, will take a few seasons to get out of it.

Clerical miscommunication.
Nicholson was always 18th man.
He was the standby in case Currie’s missus went into labour.
Ratchford wasn’t particularly ideal to cover for that scenario, although he’d stick his hand up and would have had a go.
But Ratchford is only around 14 to 14.5 stone.

| Ratchford to right centre all day long, hopefully Bullock is back next week or we're really short on forwards, and Wood can't come back as he has another Week with Bradford.

| Disappointed to see 18 points shipped in so early in the game and how easy it was for Catalan to score them.. once again Dufty ducking out of a catchable ball it’s becoming an embarrassment for us.. Hayes will be a mainstay in this wire team for years to come..couple of positives to take this game.. very much a work in progress under Burgess but am liking some of work and improvement we are seeing in this team.. plus keep drip feeding the young lads into the first team..

| The quick loss of 3 early tries was really poor with Vaughan of all people responsible for much of the self inflicted damage. However perhaps I am in a small minority in thinking this is a much better side than we have had for a couple of years ? The side never gave up, and the level of effort was very high. The one worrying area is defence with lots of very poor mistakes. In contrast our attack is improving quickly; we don't look like headless chickens anymore when we get close to the opposition line. We are certainly short of some weight and quality in the pack, but Burgess will already know this and will be waiting for an opportunity to bring someone in.
On this showing Im encouraged with what Burgess has managed to achieve but it's still very much a work in progress. We have one specialist attack coach but I think I would bring in someone to sort out the defence. Catalan looked much better organised than us in this respect.

My thoughts exactly. We look like a side that will eventually be competitive in all games, and we didn't panic despite being poor in the opening 10 minutes and stuck to the processes. We seem like a side who can slot people in and out without it disrupting us too much.
We definitely look underweight and need more go-forward, as we got steamrollered all match. We need to sort that defence out too. My only criticism of Burgess is that he dropped Wrench too soon, as Tai looked like a schoolboy trying to tackle in the first half. I think Wrench would be far more creative too with better hands, at this stage of the season anyway.

I think it is a better side than the last few years but we were really bad. The side seems to have spirit and character but we were out muscled in the pack. We are something like 4th / 5th / 6th best side in the competition.
Marshall was appointed as defensive coach under Daryl Powell. ( https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/ri ... warrington). Whatever he is doing did not work yesterday. We did not look solid at all, look easily stripped for numbers and very vulnerably under a high ball.
Some players need to be on the tackle bags all week (Ashton for one, his attempt was shocking).

That was terrible. He tried to take it to avoid contact and set up an attack I think by offsetting his body outside the ball and trying to catch it from the side, but missed the ball completely. Stupid play.

| With 2 props (at least) missing next week v Leeds I expect Bullock will come in but is Wood tied to another week at Bradford? If so I wonder whether we'll rotate Currie and Crowther in a propping role. Crowther did cover prop yesterday for a while.

Very much this, yes it was a bad start but we clawed our way back into a game that was almost dead and buried and could conceivably have got embarrassing.
In the last 15 minutes we had them on then ropes and they were wobbling, especially when we were shifting it out left. When we brought vaughan back on we went route 1 again
