| Quote ="Lord Tony Smith"Not ripping up contracts but why sign players lie Tasi when we've previously signed Johnson to then loan him out? I know who I'd rather have.
You look at Bullock at Wigan - why wasn't we in for him over Tasi?
Price probably isn't but Fitzpatrick has a lot to answer for as well IMO. He may talk a good game but not much else.'"
We may have been in for bullock. But he probably thought there's a better chance of winning somthing with Wigan than with us.
We can only sign people that are available and willing to come. Look how Bmm has worked out for us he clearly stated he wanted to stay at Salford and his effort and performances have shown that too.

| Price was a ridiculous appointment in the first place, he was a massive failure in the NRL and his style of rugby is absolutely awful to watch. His recruitment has been appalling as well. He fooled you all into thinking he was a good coach and that dross like Jason Clark were good signings. Sack him and you might get somewhere, hopefully you don’t.

They only pick Wire fans who won’t ask difficult questions so I doubt that very much.

| I get the depression on here, Warrington clearly aren't doing as well as they could be as a club given the finances that are being pumped in over the years.
BUT lets not forget that Hull are absolutely terrible. The rest, including Wigan aren't even worth talking about, so you're likely to have two finals against Saints. You can clearly win one off games against us if you get things right on the day. Despite your issues, winning the double this season is still perfectly possible.

| If I hear again that players had their mind elsewhere, were holding back or that were subbed with one eye on next weekend I'll throw a Verucca Salt style tantrum.
If the game was marked as one we could afford to lose (we can't afford to lose any if we want to get 2nd place) then the players and staff want flogging and I'd.like first crack please.
And if there was evidence in the week that players weren't fully focussed then DROP THEM and bring in Burrell, Livett, Johnson etc.
Don't insult the fans, Cas and the competition by writing it off as collateral damage when some of us believe that winning in P&B [ialways matters[/i.

I don't think we can. You've beat us twice already, one very convincingly and the other you were missing Roby and playing in second gear and still beat us.

| Ellis Robson should be getting a shout imo, played for Widnes yesterday on sky sports and put in a man of match performance against a good Toronto side . He’s quick , brave , can play and puts himself about .
Price just won’t change his squad and I have a feeling it’s gonna be Warrington downfall

| If we do indeed turn up and turn on the flair come Saturday, then I’ll be seriously annoyed. Why allow fans to pay for shoddy performances like yesterday and Salford when we have good performances in us.
However, I really don’t think we have the guile to do that, and momentum plays a big part in RL. We’re simply in a slump and that probably won’t just turn around 180 degrees come Saturday. Something doesn’t seem right across the board.

| Quote ="DAG"Our recruitment post Tony Smith has been as bad as it was when he was in charge. Smith got a lot of stick for his recruitment during the latter stages of his tenure and rightly so, but the fact our recruitment is still poor indicates to me that the issues recruitment wise run deeper within the club than just the Head Coach.'"
Completely agree. I castigated Smith for some of his signings, but the poor signings have continued. I owe Smith an apology for that. I guess we will have to live with the fact that the best players want to play for Saints, Wigan, Leeds primarily and we have to pay over the odds but most of our signings have ranged from distinctly average (Jason Clark) to absolute turkeys (Tasi, Sitaleki). The one exception is Charnley but being fair I think most of us on here would have signed him.
I am slowly getting the impression that Price is not the man to lead us to the holy grail. His WG article following the Salford game talked about "easy fixes" but clearly they are not as evidenced by the Castleford game. This coupled with our turgid performances, clearly disjoined attack, refusal to drop players, and now the repeating of sounds bites "we've got a footy team" all give the impression that it's all about to unravel.

| Like most clubs we are suffering from the lack of an effective system of producing home grown players of suitable quality & in sufficient numbers.
The big 3 are attracting the better overseas players ,other clubs are getting the leftovers.
In truth ,if any of these players were any good they wouldn't plying their trade over here.

You're really enjoying this, aren't you. The poorest standard SL by a country mile.
If Saints don't win the GF and the Challenge Cup double, then Holbrook has been an abject failure.

| Despite the investment in Austin - we've not progressed. We're 1 point better off than we were at this stage last season - we've won a game we drew last season, otherwise our results are exactly the same. Last season we were 4th at this stage, now we're second. Says it all really.
I was never convinced by Price - always seemed to be a case of last man standing rather than our chosen target. He seems a lovely fella but that doesn't win prizes I'm afraid. Our pack is nowhere near good enough to win anything up front and there's a lack of depth to the squad. For all those crying out for change - Westwood is injured apparently (as I've been wondering what's happened to him).
The big loss has been Ratchford - it's no coincidence that since he's been injured Austin has gone off the boil - teams just close Austin down as there's no other threat. Ratch chiming in put indecision into the opposition and made space for Austin to take advantage of. If we can get Ratch back we might have a hope but we need him back as soon as we can as we're very average without him.

Look on the kr forum about , Livett and Johnson , look on the Widnes forum about Robson , all being raved about .
Wigan giving kids a go. Saints giving kids a go , Warrington playing the same team all the time . Pat Moran played well against Salford the week later dropped so price can play the same team . So there’s 4 players for you, young lads who would give you more than what a lot of senior players are giving you at the minute

No. Our team isn’t that good. I don’t know where this line of thinking has come from that we [ishould[/i be winning trophies. If Cas and Wakey have everyone fit and are in good form you could throw a blanket over Wire Hull Wigan Catalans Cas and Wakey. Wakey might be struggling but they have players that would walk into our team.

So by almost every measure we have progressed off the same games last season?
We are two places higher, we have 1 more point, 1 more win, one less draw, same defeats, 117 more points scored, 21 fewer points conceded. It may well be small, but it’s still better than last season in every aspect bar defeats which is the same.
We have only conceded 44 more points than Saints have and they’re running away with the league.
I think everyone is getting very carried away with the levels of issues they are complaining about. Things are exactly where they should be, for me. We are an okay side doing just about more than okay and in a good position with progressions from last season.
We have many problems but that’s to be expected. We have many many areas we need to improve and that’s not just the coach, the players also need to pull their fingers out. But then away at Cas our underperforming props had a run-out and were then rested for the rest of the game, I don’t think yesterday’s result is worth taking a blind bit of notice of.

The recruitment is not going to be just down to the head coach, and the fact this has been a problem which has stemmed from before Price's time suggests the problem lies elsewhere, and won't be solved with the new coach.
Our recruitment has gone downhill since about 2013. I accept that it has been a tough market, and not one in which the likes of King, Monaghan, Morley, Hodgson were available. But if you compare our recruitment in the latter years of TS, 2013-2017, to Castleford's over that same period when they went from bottom of the league to top, while having to deal with the loss of their best players, Chase, Clark and Solomona, it shows that good squad building was possible. And since then, you could compare ours to Saints.

Remember at the start of last season, when we were losing, and Russell and Atkins got dropped. Everyone was saying yeah, great, we got a tough coach now in Steve Price - it's not like TS who had his favourites, with Price, you don't perform, you don't get picked.
Now its just a different set of favourites. Although given the fringe players, its difficult to see how you can drop players for lack of form without weakening the team, especially with the injuries we have in the squad.
