I’d love to see Currie at loose, especially in a team that offloads and plays fast. He can run hard and fast, but also offload, play as a pivot and even get through a gap himself (hopefully more often if he can get some pace back)

I’d rather have big battering ram second rowers (might be harking back to yesteryear on this) running wide and over the top of halfbacks making some easier meters.

We've enough pivots...it's props we're short of.

If thats the case then how come we quite easily get ourselves downfield but are alarmingly blunt in the opposition 10?

Sometimes the balance of a team requires a very good player to miss out rather than being shoehorned in. This is what coaches get paid for.

True but it would be a brave coach to leave out a marquee player.

No way Ratch should be LF for me, would mean an already weak pack doing much more work to make up for it

our biggest problem at the moment is the lightweight pack. Putting a lanky string of p!$$ in it is not a good idea at the moment. IF we had 4 decent prop forwards in the club (al la Moz, Carvs, Wood and Hill) then maybe.

Irrespective of the potential merits of switching him to LF, with Widdop still to be proven, Austin still not back to his early 2019 best and Currie still to regain his form, that "lank string of p!$$" remains our most talented, in form and naturally skilful player. Modicum of respect?

You don't need to have a massive pack. Our pack showed in the first two games that a lightweight athletic pack moving the opposition forwards around the field is more effective as trying to steamroll your way downfield.

Austin is a fantastic runner and side stepper, the best I've seen at Wire since Jiffy, as a plus he has good strength and some pace...his defence is OK for a half and can take some shots...

But as creative goes in handling is less than average and his attack kicking is often poor for a game then average in another.

Personally I'd have the bollox to shift Austin out to right centre and play Widdop with Ratchford.
It looks more balanced to me.

...this might be so...and many of them have more expansive creativity than Austin...what creative skills Austin has are mostly confined to his own selfish style....don't get me wrong....those selfish spells are great to watch.

It’s not unreasonable to think that Matty Ashtons first two games never happened and he was destined to a season in the reserves or on dual reg with maybe a bench spot later in the season or a game when injuries and suspensions had depleted the squad.

The fact is that we are more excited about Ashton than we are Widdop and it doesn’t take a financial expert to work out their relative value.

I love Ratchford...consistently our best player over the last few years...but to suggest he should be moved into the pack is madness IMO.
