Brad Dywer signs for Leigh on a 2 year deal. Great news for us....



Leigh Leopards are delighted to confirm the permanent signing of Brad Dwyer from Warrington on a two-year contract.
Dwyer, 31 later this month, has been in outstanding form for the Leopards in his five games so far while on loan from the Wolves.
His permanent signing makes him eligible to play for the Leopards in their Betfred Challenge Cup quarter-final at Hull KR on Saturday.
Head of Rugby Chris Chester said: “Brad was initially signed as cover when Edwin Ipape was injured, and he’s shown what a class player he is in his spell so far with the club.
“Brad is an experienced, dynamic hooker who is already a fans’ favourite. When the opportunity came to make the deal a permanent one, we couldn’t miss the chance.”

I wouldn't risk currie to be honest, not worth possibly losing him for a longer period. Not my call though and don't know the full extent of the injury.

Not sure a season long loan is a wise move, he’ll be a very handy replacement….unless we think Powell can cover it along with Ratchford…..and as long as Okunbor doesn’t come the other way!!

I would let him go. When you say he’ll be handy for them? Has he been handy for us? he’s been garbage. If we get an injury or suspension in the halfs then we can always use Ratchford or even Powell.

I’d be happy with that he’s not settled well at all with us. We would have cover I guess if true;

Although Drinkwater has been a flop so far, and won't be getting a contract again, we haven't really had chance to see how he plays under Burgess. He might be handy cover should one of Hayes or Williams get injured, and his kicking game was always fairly decent.

It’s evidence to support the progress made of late, particularly with the current mentality of “next man up”, that we can release Kasiano, Dwyer, Dudson and potentially Drinkwater without panic buying. Particularly when you look at the number of injuries and suspensions that we’ve had.

It puts us in a good position to recruit for next year.

Can`t see Tai being kept for next year, so that would give us 3 Overseas Quota Players vacancies we could use.

The way the kids are playing with potentially more emerging too, I don`t think we will use all of our Quota opportunities.

I`ll be surprised and a little disappointed if we fail to sign another prop for this season though.

I have heard that "signing players like Kassiano and Dudson are a thing of the past" they are the two names that was mentioned. Not entirely sure what that means, age related? attitude related? playing style? No idea, but i can only think its positive neither player excelled for us. I do believe we are looking closer to home in regards to recruitment

I’ve said before that we ought not to be signing players over the age of 27/28, unless it’s a season only needs must deal.
I don’t apply that to extension of contracts in some cases.

Currie was named at Stand Off on the official team sheet, but Hughes played there from the start. A bit of mind games from Price I think.
