sorry for grix, coops etc but reasoning for them 2 is if things don't go there way they have a habit of getting impatient grix trying to rip the ball out in the tackle or throwing silly passes. and coops has the odd high shot.

I stuck up for him at the game. Carrying the ball away from our line he's brilliant, consistent 10m minimum. I can't put my finger on what his problem is but I'm finding it harder to defend him each time he plays.

Against us, he had a blinder for Cas. According to their fans he's been outstanding. I just don't understand why we don't see this in the P&B? Is it because of the lack of consistent game time or is he just not "top of the league side" quality? At the moment I'm with the former but he's probably got 1 more game to impress this year otherwise he's out the door.

Grix for Tyke for me. Simon's versatility and good form (apart from Friday) makes him the better choice. After missing out in 09 and 10 he deserves his place imo.

i do feel sorry for him but it is not time for sentiment

tyke has been outstanding this year and so has grix (when we have been winning) unfortunately he does lack the patience i have seen for the last year and then some it has always been there that if things don't go our way then he tries to force the issue too much.

my opinion but i would prefer to see tyke in their he has bust a gut to get regular first team place this year and i find it hard to say sorry son but no.

Grix is suffering from Grix Syndrome: one poor game/injury and people retrospectively invent some weird backstory in which he has been inconsistent/poor all season.

For me Grix v McCarthy is a toss-up between two players who've been excellent all season. Simon didn't cover himself in glory on Friday but not many did. I'm sure Tony will make the call based on what's he looking for, who he thinks will do a job and their relative fitness, rather than jerk his knee because Grix gave a shocking pass out on Friday night.

I think that 16 of the 17 Wembley places available are already sorted in Tony Smiths mind and his only undecided spot is between Tyke & Simon G. I don't think that either Coops, Matty B or Bridgey will get a spot.

Hill is our no 1 prop and has coped with everything that's been thrown at him

I think I would start with Moz and big Gaz....with Hilly off the bench....big game experience needed for the start of this one.

I know HiIly has dealt with everything thrown at him so far...I just wouldn't want the occasion to get to him at the start...could be costly.

Agreed. He has been very good and I was completely wrong when I wrote him off as finished. Deserves to start, important he starts and his new deal as well. Michael Monaghan off the bench? Cruel - on Leeds (assuming he's fit enough).

I'd start with Higham as he always seems to bring energy to the ruck which will tire out the Tykes defense and allow Monas some ball time when he comes on. Same at the start of the 2nd half with Monas on for the final 25 mins.
I'm easy as to who should start in the front row between Moz, Carvell and Chilly. I'd just favour Moz so he can lead the team out as club captain (could he do that if starting on the bench?) and Carvell on the bench as he does bring impact when entering the fray.
I'd also have Grix over Tyrone as he brings some cover for the backs which we won't have if the bench is all out-and-out forwards. Should any of Hodgo, Myler or Briers get injured then Ratch could cover, with Grix moving to centre. With Tyrone on the bench then I'd assume Westwood would move out to the backline, and I'd rather have him in the thick of it for the whole match.

Its a tough call between Grix and Tyke. Grix is still getting back to form after the injury, but I think I would favour his experience and ball handling skills to Tyke.
Either way we are in the luxurious position of 'fine tuning' a very good squad. I am really looking forward to the 1st 15 minutes of this match, and to have the likes of Morley or Hill coming on as interchange is mouthwatering.

Morley starts for me, hopefully with the same forceful running he did at Stains, weeks ago.

When he's done 20 mins, let Carvell loose (make sure his last meal is Thursday, he'll be hungry by then), and trample all over a certain Leeds "hardman"
