There's no faulting his talent but would you forgo team cohesion and stability for that?
He comes across as a very likeable guy, I've seen him in interviews, he's a family man and very grounded but unfortunately he's either very badly advised or some of the people he surrounds himself are a disruptive influence on him, besides if he came over the papers would be constantly linking him with Sale or Harlequins etc.
Not for me regardless of his immense talent.

| So a team who have played in 3 of the last 4 finals isn't worth a season ticket renewal?

| Williams has all the loyalty of a snake.
Great player he may be, but I think any club either code would be taking a huge risk.

So basically your argument is there's no faulting his talent, he comes across as a likeable guy, he's a family man and very grounded, but the papers would be linking him with moves to other clubs so we shouldn't sign him.
Also its interesting to see the impact he has on team cohesion and stability:
Bulldogs - won the NRL Grand Final
Chiefs - won the Super Rugby Grand Final
All Blacks - won the World Cup
Roosters - won the NRL Grand Final
Looks like he disrupts teams that haven't won anything for a while by helping them win the big prize in which case I would love him to disrupt us.

| The Chiefs changed the coaching staff top to bottom, I think SBW wasn't the catalyst or the reason for winning the top prize, a root and branch clear out with a sugar coated SBW hundreds and thousands sprinkles on top of the cake. A similar story at the Roosters.
You cannot question his ability but his commitment to the cause you could have a case for, the guy is a free spirit, a force of nature unfortunately similar to a tornado.

| anyone who wouldnt want SBW to sign for Warrington are smoking crack!
Like Sally cinnamon says he's not done any harm wherever he's been, i mean he proper disrupted the Roosters season didnt he! I dont care if he's got the loyalty of a snake, if he came here and gave us a season or two i'd take that!

| There is more likelihood of Bridge St being declared a world heritage site than Williams signing for Wire.

Which clubs did the team get torn apart because of his disruptive influence?

| I think he has shown ultimate loyalty, to the future of his family and his dedication to rugby.
The fact that the club name is of lesser loyalty is totally understandable, he strives for what we do, job security hence his physique and ability to sport...
Swapping clubs frequently to support his family better by getting better contact deals.
like us swapping utility companies.

This might be why SBW is quitting the Roosters then, they offered the best tariff a year ago but now they've put his bills up by 10%.

Whilst anyone would agree that its a short career and we would all do what is best for our families etc the Utility Company argument is a little simplistic surely?
I might move from Scottish Power to British Gas and yes they will miss my monthly direct debit, they wont really miss me as a customer my £x per month is a drop inte ocean. I'm sure the people at Scottish Power haven't invested one jot of emotion into our arrangement and by the way neither would I.
Your star performer on the other hand...

stop being unusually easy on me Rico....its completely "simplistic".
I knew that when I wrote it.. But I couldn't really use the notion that we all change our jobs instead!

Unusually easy...Benefit of the Doubt RD?
I was neither agreeing or disagreeing with the rights of an individual to change their jobs or utility company but more interested in widening the debate on loyalty and whether for example a SBW can almost 'get away with it' in that as a real world class star performer most teams would say well we've had the benefit of one or two years he's a free spirit good luck to him rather than rubbing supporters up the wrong way for switching almost as soon as he'd got there?
I suppose if he transformed your team's fortunes he could get away with almost anything?

| Sonny is a footballing genius no doubt.
Just on the boxing thing , don't believe the hype. Things are not what they seem.
He holds a New Zealand title but he won't be defending it any time soon ( his camp will tell you three years ) New Zealand boxing fans will tell you he will never have a go at serious boxing while young up and coming star Joseph Parker is calling Sonny out for a match up.
I'm not hating on Sonny here , it's remarkable he can box on any level with all the things he does. But take a look at his last fight against aging fighter Botha.
The fight was scheduled as a twelve rounder.
Botha got Sonny in trouble in the ninth.
Inexplicably and to the ire of people who had paid $39.95 for pay perview.......the fight was reduced to a ten round fight ( in the eight round LOL ).
Attending Warriors ( NZ type don't shoot neutral here ) against the Roosters , the crowd chanted " You owe me thirty nine ninety five Sonny "
To add the the farce , it transpired that the Belt Williams was awarded for the Fight , didn't previously exist ( one was made for Sonny ) the Queensland boxing association hosting the fight had never heard of the Queensland title he fought for
Would Williams be a good signing for Wire ?
Is the pope a Catholic
