That 'remorse' mitigation is farcical. It was clearly a deliberate act that he thought he was entitled to carry out at the time.

The fact that 'lovely' Matty Peet probably convinced him to batter his eyelids, say 'sowwy' and give Bentley one of those little bottles of Loch Lomond whisky should be neither here nor there.

I agree. It was a pernicious and snide hit on a prone player's head, a player who had no opportunity to defend himself. 3 games seems low.

Had they considered all the offences together it might well have been the higher end.
I like Smith as a player and think he`s different class to the likes of Dodd.

Asiata out is massive for us

3 matches for Makinson I think is harsh. Not looked back at it but thought O’Brien would have been cited and the Asiata late hit I thought would get looked at but did not think he would get a ban for it.

It's a tough call trying to be kind given the club and the individual but I agree 3 for Makinson seems harsh and yes agree with you that I too thought O'Brien would be reviewed and I'd have thought he'd be MIA on Friday copping for a 1 week off

Not sure how Saints fans et al think Makinson has been hard done to? His feet are off the floor AGAIN, his technique and previous record are horrendous. Learn the lessons or continue to spend half the season on the bench. You hear Peet and Burgess talk about individual players having to adapt and plenty of Saints players clearly can’t be bothered.

I genuinely can't stand the MRP. Don't know what they do, or what they bring to the game. Handing out retroactive bans for everything has always been stupid as and that's not even talking about the inconsistency and incompetence they exhibit in doing that stupid job. We need a new system asap

No surprise Saints appealing Makinson ban.

On the face of it, it seems a tad harsh - I thought two games at the time. It was direct shoulder contact to the head though, there was no attempt to bend the back, it was just a very misjudged tackle. He has previous, maybe that’s where the 3 games comes from.

Go back to last season, I think it was him, and hurrell who both had form, for coming in, and hitting passers late with the shoulder and in the head he was getting done/carded for it back then.

Both harry smith and makinson receive 3 match bans...how that lot can say they both deserve the same punishment is beyond me

Expect those clowns to throw the book at Vaughan on Monday and possibly fine Sam, too. It's beyond a joke now, really. We're in the era of accidental contact being penalised on an equal footing with real, foul play, and players now looking to stay down so that if enough replays are shown, the VR will intervene. Sam's right, it's a loving pantomime. Let's all watch the ref deliberate with his earpiece. Yeah, that's what we all come to watch.
