Quote ="theredshed"I know it's difficult to predict where you think we will finish next year without knowing all the player in's and out's but . . .
1. What finishing position for 2014 do you feel is realitically possible if the club brings in 6 quality players?
2. After all the ambitious statements from the Doctor, the media hype and promises of full cap what league position(s) would you be disappointed with in 2014?
3. Assuming finances are forthcoming how many years do you think it will take Noble to build a squad capable of a top 4 finish? Or do you think it's not possible under Noble for Salford to achieve this?
4. How many of the existing squad do you feel are good enough or have the potential to play for a top 4 club?
5. What attendances do you feel are realistically achievable if Salford were a top 4 club?
I'd just be interested to know your thoughts because I feel there will be some contrasting views on the subject.'"
1. If we bring in 8 quality players and two grafters I'd expect top 6 or 7 in the first season together as its a lot of players coming in at once and we'd need time to jel.
2. Anything below 7th I'd be disappointed considering the money the doc is planning to spend.
3. I think assuming continuous money being spent on extra quality building year upon year I'd say by 2016 we should be fighting for top 4 places.
4. I'd keep about 14/15 of the current squad, out of the backs (wingers/centres) Williams and Gleeson as both have attacking flair and could be great with decent service next to them, I'd say the same about broughton but I think he's made up his mind and will be playing for the Giants next year, I'd like to keep Gaskell but stick him in the centres too as he's strong quick and elusive with space in front of him, out of the forwards obviously Jewwit, McPhearson, Griffin as those three are tough and ready to get dirty in hard fixtures, Ashurst and Dixon to stay although I feel next year the latter two will be used as impact players from the bench, Emmitt could excel under noble and the correct service from better quality half backs ditto Adam Walne so those two to stay also.
Gareth Owen deserves a chance to prove himself as he never puts a foot wrong when he plays, half backs I'd keep Sneyd and Theo as both are promosing young players who under the correct guidence could become stars, the other two places left would go to jack Holmes and Niall Evalds both young lads who have a lot of raw talent and both could be perfect for blending in the team along with the right quality to get the perfect mix of youth and experience.
The rest for me would have to go the main two would be Mauro for me hes an awful player unfit not impressed in one single game for us this year, and Foran although tries his best he isn't the type of player were looking for to take the team forward to the next level.
So all in all 15 to stay 12 to go and maybe 10 to come in with the extra 2 squad positions being filled by academy lads.
5.honestly 8000 regularly and the 10000 to sell out mark for big important game, the Salford public are dying to have a winning RL team and will come in their bucket loads if it all comes to fruition.
