The 20's have now been informed there is no money in the pot to sign them , there is some great talent in that team it is the team of the future, this was Salford's future its a disgrace !!!



No wonder Lee Spence as resigned as 20's coach he as done a fantastic job with these lads as well.

While I agree if true this isn't good news.

What I do worry about is your motives, strikes me potentially your someone with inside knowledge who is hiding behind an on line persona or your another who is coming on here to further upset the apple cart.

Ford/Fages/Owen/Sneyd are already signed up. Although would like to see another 5 or 6 offered a deal. Some real quality in this years team.

The problem is that next year there will be no U20's. It will be U19's, so the older players who would have graduated to next years U20's have no place to go if they are not in the first team.

A whole tier is being removed from the game, which in my mind is a ridiculous idea from the RFL.

they should bring back B teams regardless of age! or do the rfl want players that are not playing every week dual-registered??

Quite a few of the chairmen voiced concerns about the running costs of Academy teams. However, I reckon the alternative — linking up with Championship clubs (effectively making them feeder clubs/'A' teams) — is a non-starter.

I think there is going to be an u19s and an u23s, this is where the current 20s will graduate too

According to last week's [iRugby Leaguer & League Express[/i, there's only going to be an u19s and an u16s (with two scholarship levels merging).

Think this would be the last year at 20s for Sneyd and Owen anyway. Fages and Ford will both still qualify for next years new under 19s comp.

According to your chairman your all fine and dandy, I would feel epically frustrated if I were a Salford fan. Why doesn't he just come out and be honest with the fans?

Isn't the issue here that due to the change from U20s to U19s, basically if you're 19 now and not deemed ready for 1st team then you get cast adrift (particularly by a club like Salford that doesn't have the spare cash to hold onto a player who might be good enough in 2 years), and will end up drifting away from the game or dropping to the lower leagues, where, with respect, you may not get the best development. It's a problem for the game as a whole, but worse for the skinter clubs - we need to make better use of the dual reg arrangements.

Well, the idea is based on Championship clubs linking with Super League clubs, and those Super League clubs potentially dictating coaching policy. Can you imagine the likes of Harrison and Powell being told what and how to coach?

The other farce is that the allowed amount of dual registrations per club goes up to 6, and loans up to 4. So a Championship club could have up to 10 borrowed players in its squad (limited to 6 per match). Their salary cap is £300,000 but a max of 10 SL players could theoretically double that. Doubts are also being raised over the dual reg system with some clubs being stung this year (particularly Leigh, if memory serves).

I can't see the better Championship clubs having any of it, and they are the ones most likely to bring these early 20-somethings on.

Are CaMoron and Osbourne running the Rugby League?
