| I bet if Mr Simms did a suvey at our next match, the majority of our fan base would tell him how we could save money, by sacking himself. He goes on to tell, with the economy struggling everyone struggles. The solution is simply to try and be even smarter in how you are running your buisiness. From what people were saying at the Widness game, it seems to me that we should be running ours without him. You would think at a time like this, Mr Vievers needs all the funds he can get to put out a team for next season. He should keep a low profile. I did ask someone what he did,and I was told he is the chairman's eyes and ears. Shouldn't that be Mr Vievers' job? He should be the top man and it is his job that is on the line if things go pear shaped.

| Apparently, it was Simms who got the Korean flags mixed up the other day.
Nobody seems to completely know what Simms actually does, so he could be doing a good job for all we know.

| Funny how he's always bad at his job when we lose a game!
That role needs doing by someone so it's not a potential saving

| Now I get it.
To save money we bin SS and employ someone on less money who is better at the job?
Or bin SS and employ someone better at the job who costs more in wages!!
Odd that SJW got the consultancy firm in and they recommended getting rid of Tarry but not SS, maybe just maybe it's because he does what is required of him in a manner that befits someone of his experience and pay grade? Maybe we should throw in a cheeky bid on Simms wages for the guy who was released by City last year as I'm sure he'd love an in now he's at a lose end.

| TBF I think the OP is valid. If Simms is in charge of players contracts, why has he in recent years let out best players and youngster run into their last year of contract! Totally unacceptable from my POV, those who say well they might not to want to sign, well if they don't tell them they can go and try recoup some money as in the Smith case. Also Simms has a terrible record from signing injured players who did not pass a medical to players signed from youtube footage. I will admit I've got grievances with Simms and until someone proves to me he's fulfilling his role adequately I will remain sceptical.

| On the other side of the coin: Broughton, Gleeson, Williams, Holdsworth, Smith, Patten — not a bad bloody crop. Swings and roundabouts chaps.

Are you seriously judging Simms tenure on 6 signings? What about the other, 100 maybe a rough estimate? Out of those signing your mention no-one wanted Smith we took a chance, we out bid Huddersfield for Patten whether people believe it or not. Holdsworth been OK. Didn't know much about Jodie, didn't he have an unsuccessful loan at Hull then released from Leeds on return. Can't honestly believe you think Simms has proved his worth by those signing. Very short sited if true.

| No I'm not. I'm just balancing out some of your guff. Remember what was going on in 2002 and some the operational crap Simms had to sort out from the hangover of the Harvey era. People forget that.

Because we haven't got a pot to p =#000000iss in. How is that Simms's fault? Look, I'm not a Simms apologist but some on here vilify him for seemingly doing nothing. Because his job role isn't defined he is seen as surplus, and some find evidence to back their argument on why he should go. But there is another side. You cannot deny he has also made some shrewd signings.
When it gets down to it, at some point the board felt they needed an eye and hear on the coaching staff. Probably because they were unaware of what was going on and were taken for a ride. Simms is that man. If it isn't Simms occupying that role, it would be someone else. You must admit it is telling that the club surmised the Chief Executive role was redundant and the Football Director was not.

| With our lack of money for signings it is imperative that there is none of the wastage that we have seen in previous seasons during the upcoming off season. Whatever role Simms plays in that I will leave for others to decide.

| As a long life passholder at HULL.F.C. i have looked at SALFORD and its ups and down in the past years. SIMMS got rid of KARL HARRISON when you were doing quite well. Since then the club has struggled. It seems that for some reason the 1st class coaches that you have had, did have problems with the management. I dont think things will alter until it changes.

To be fair, Simms got rid of Harrison when we were on a very bad slump. Whether or not that was down to Harrison's coaching, the players turning or a combination of the two is up for debate, but we were struggling to hit the "highs" of the previous season.

Yes. Salford were taken to pieces at Catalans and the spectre of relegation loomed.

Because there was no relegation. Less pressure from upstairs.

| Are you sure Simms has the power to sack the coach, thought this was a board call.
Harrison had to go, he was outstanding the season we were relegated and our first season back in SL. Harrison however failed to adapt, look at the games we lost late in that first season and this poor form continued in the following season. I can remember standing at the Catalan game knowing we would go down. It was still early in the year but teams knew how to play us.
