Why are Wakefield only offering players 12 month contracts? Should we read more in to this?

aparently wakefeild are offering 12 month contracts because there is huge speculation in yorkshire that they wont get a franchise when there super league contract is up.

i know its been open for discussion but ive heard that widnes have more chance than wakefeild because of there facilities ect.

it seems to me all the franchises have been decided thus wakefeild not wanting to cripple themselves in the lower division

Nice bloke and wish him all the best, but not very good on the field I must admit id rather have latu any day.

The only way he will come back and bite us on the bum is if he smashes a window on leaving the club shop.

Still think he is a better player than the one we saw over the last couple of seasons.
saw glimses of his real potential on his change of role to interchange hooker / acting half back, the fact is he took up an all important quota space in our squad and we need the best 5 quota spots we can afford next season! He was signed as Kiwi International class and we didn't see that week to week , but good luck all the same .
will be assured to play a blinder against us next season .

Except that the contracts would be void if they lost their franchise. More likely they're not convinced by his quality and don't want to be saddled with him long term if he doesn't turn out to be any good

In field kicking he's ok. Goal kicking; never seen him try. So, maybe...

Tbh I though he let us down throughout his time with us. Came with reputation as a international 7 and never got close to living up to that. Whether that was down to him or coaching is a different matter. Certainly wasn't a worth a quota place for next season in my opinion. Very nice bloke though all the same.
