| Just had a little thought about your new ground (looking good for you now that the council seems to have become more actively involved) and potential tenants. Rather than letting Sale rahrah get a look in they don't deserve, what would the reaction be locally if Swinton were offered the chance to move in with you? Might solve their ground issues and provide a tenant that wouldn't prove difficult for Salford in the years to come.

Just love it that Swinton Fans are providing the capital for [size=150OUR[/size new ground via the council tax.

| i think it would be a great idea for Swinton to play at the stadium personally. Lets face it, there never actually going to be a challenge to us anymore with the way their going it alone, even if they get there new stadium off the ground.
You could have double headers on a sunday or maybe a weekend ticket to go see both there games for the price of 1 (us on a friday, Swinton on a Sunday) It would not only increase revenue for both clubs, it would help esablish our local rivals once again which, i would rather see local teams playing in superleague than Hull KR for instance.
Not only this but off the back of some good marketing and things like that, it could also help to increase the involvement of more kids coming along to support the teams and getting them into the game. i remember as a kid if salford were playing away i would often come out of the Folly club over to Station Road to watch a game, just because i love watching rugby as i'm sure many of us do.
I understand the arguments against allowing them to play there but taking off the short sighted glasses for 2 minutes, it would be a masive win win situation for all involved and for Rugby in the area.

| Couldn't agree more - for Rubgy League to actually grow, and for Salford City Reds to thrive there HAS to be some innovative thinking and people have to move away from petty parochialism.
Ayres Rock - you're spot on

| I don't really care from a parochial point of view, my only concern would be covering the costs of opening the Stadium (ie. would Swinton's gate receipts cover our leccy bill).
With that in mind I think the idea above is spot on. I realise there's a different scale involved but the idea works well in Australia.

| I've advocated this for a long time, Swinton with the best will in the world are never going to get to SL standards and need help to survive.
We should use them as a feeder club, allow some of our younger fringe players to play with them, joint training sessions when possible, shared office staff and community duties.
As has been mooted above maybe a joint season ticket, double headers on a Sunday afternoon all off which again would increase revenue streams.
Think it would save both clubs money and in the long run help the playing standards increase for both clubs.

| I don't care who plays at the new stadium at Barton besides Salford City Reds all that concerns me is that the stadium gets built in time for the 2012 Engage Super League Season and of course the Reds will still be part of the Super League.

FC United won't ground share with Salford. If they move anywhere else between now and their own ground being built it'll be somewhere like Hyde.

I dont think you will have any option but than to share your proposed new stadium with other clubs/organisations. On the Swinton forum at www.rugbyleague.org one of our fans has received a reply from Salford Council after he questioned the funding that your club has been given.Seems to suggest that the ground will be a joint venture between the council and peel holdings and as such wont be just your ground.A s for Swinton sharing,I would sooner stay at SP.The future for clubs outside Super League is as community clubs and as such they need to be in their own communities.Swinton need to be in M27 and if we are to have a viable future we need the proposed ground at Agecroft to become reality sooner rather than later.

For a groundshare, anywhere within the local area that's affordable would suit.
For our own ground... It will be in Manchester.

My understanding is that the new stadium will be Salford's however the club would be crazy not to consider a paying tennent if it helped reduce the stadium management costs. It makes sense really because a multi-million pound facility plus all the running costs is a lot of money for just 13-14 matches a year.

| United reserves played at Leigh last night, billed as Blackburns home match, but 2500 turned up which is 1900 more than United had at Altrincham so perhaps a ground share with them could make sense.
