Has anyone got any experience of organising beer festivals or have any contacts with local/regional (small) breweries (or local CAMRA branches)? After the success that the Bury FC supporters trust have had with their beer festival Forever Reds are looking at organising something similar but smaller. anyhow i reckon the best person to ask is the Landlord of the New Oxford he has all the right connections with all the small brewers who you would invite to take part, get camera, to sponsor it or spread the publicity.
We would need a main sponsor possibly a major brewer or Real radio etc

PS Bury Beer Festival which should have been this weekend was cancelled due to lack of volunteers to help out, so the North west is a beer short of a festival.

Good place to sample a beer festival is in January at the Northern winter Beer festival in Manchester which might prove a good sounding board and research area.

Slight tangent I know but many moons ago used to go regularly for a meal and pint to the Strawberry Duck up in Turton and they used to have weekly guest beers from around the world. One time when walking in the beer of choice for the coming week was 'Rapist' lager from Germany. Rivalled only by 'Black Mans Willy' Rum that is sold in the States - it caused me no end of laughs haveing to explain to the ex inlaws when visting last why we both used to pish ourselves laughing at the meer sight of it.

Bazens brewed a Forever Reds' inspired ale a few years back.

Flat Cap and Game Set and Match are rather splendid if I do say so myself
