| I feel I have to comment on the stewarding at tonights game. While individually I don't have a problem with any of them, collectively they are completely ineffective. I sat in the family stand tonight and found myself sat behind a load of castleford fans whose behaviour was dispicable. The first problem was that they all came up and stood up (why I do not know as two yards further forward was a perfectly acceptable terraced area - yorkshire for you I suppose). When I asked them politley if they wouldn't mind sitting down so that my son could see (not an unreasonable request in a family stand I would have thought) I was subjected to a barrage of abuse. This continued throughout the game to the point where my son was frightened. My point about the stewarding is that when I asked the steward if he could so something about the situation his reaction was "what can I do on my own?" while this may be a valid point in that he was obviously outnumbered why could he have not called for back up and evicted them from the stand. what is the point of a family stand when it is not enforced. There is a line of stewards standing in front of the main stand. Why? Can't remember a time when the directors and press have decided to kick off or invade the pitch. In my view there were plenty of stewards that could have been called upon but instead the one near us just basically got taunted becasue they knew there was nothing he could do. If they can't enforce regulations in the ground what exactly are we paying them for? The yorkshire muppets were the ones to blame but the stewarding was pointless.

2. If there's an incident that merits attention ,then they'll attend.
You need to get a grip,i thought the Cas fans made a great atmosphere considering the expense and time it probably took them to get here from W.Yorks. The family stand was probably 35% at capacity tonight if that.
You dont get a desegnated seat number when you enter the stand,if a few vibrant. passionate, diehard fans (sounds like something we need) ruffle your feathers, then move....
It's so easy....
Better still.just go the 3pm k.o's when it's better suited for 4 year olds.
No wonder 'rugby fans' get peeved off with 'tyrant typers'.
Well Done Cas,good luck in the play offs...

| Red Arrowe: I don't call telling Salford fans to F*** OFF and calling us W**KERS for cheering our first try creating a vibrant and passionate atmosphere. I call it an attempt to intimidate and what's more it's a cowardly one since it was aimed at kids and their parents. I can't believe you would take the side of these Yorkshire gobs**tes rather than one of our young fans.
One of the Cas fans smuggled a beer into the FAMILY stand where alcohol is banned. When asked politely to move to another area of the ground where he could drink he behaved like one of the kids I teach and flatly refused knowing that the steward was unable to do anything about it. If they are powerless to stop this behaviour then surely we need some sort of a police presence.
The fact that there is plenty of room in the ground is no excuse for YOBBISH behaviour and why should we have to move from our favourite spot in our own ground.
Would a 3pm KO have stopped these yobs from behaving in this way? I think not and 8pm was fine for the same 4 year old 2 weeks ago when we played Saints!!!

| Were you in the North Stand Red Arrow ?
The Cas supporters at the front of the North Stand were in the wrong place not chrismum or anyone else with young kids, it is the family stand after all.
You should`nt be slating a fellow Salford supporter or telling her to go and watch rl elsewhere.
Personally i had no problem with the Cas supporters regarding any abuse , but as I mentioned previously they were in the wrong place and their so called witty banter etc was`nt appropriate for the enviroment they were in.If they would have been on the terraces anything the Cas supporters were singing etc woul`nt have been so obvious. to the kids in the seats
Any new supporters with very young kids woul`nt be back going off what happened in the North Stand last night.
More later.

| As posted on the cas board a moment ago in response to your ridiculous suggestion that I only go to 3 pm kick offs. That would require me to either only come to one or two home matches a season or go and watch another club. I'm sure your suggestion would delight the people at the club wanting attendances to increase and those who miss out on my £160 season ticket money. As for your point number two,

| Read the thread"fans abuse to players" I do not condone in any way the behaviour of the Castleford "supporters" but maybe the problem isn't isolated,if you had been with the Salford supporters while they were "chanting" at their own players, would your reaction have been the same?

Yes, but the point is this is the family stand. This person had mad a conscious choice not to view the game from the area of the ground where verbally abusive reds fans may be - indeed an area where verbally abusive fans of any club don't go, so is reasooable to expect a hassle free game. I'm someone who dislikes sitting at games and will go and stand at the back in all seater stadiums, but going into a seated area to stand up when there's standing capacity for 8,000 is pretty dumb - doing this at the front of a stand with people sitting behind is both dumb and inconsiderate.

| I could see that group of Cas fans from where I was stood. Quite what they were doing in the Family Stand rather than on the terrace is beyond me. They'd have fitted in quite nicely with the group of Cas fans right at the back of the terracing, dead centre behind the sticks as well...

While I know why condone any sort of yobbish or behavoiour of that sort. Why do you have your family stand at the away end? You have got another stand along the side of the ground?

Yes it would had they been in the family stand. I know bad language happens. I used to swear at refs as much as anyone and sometimes have to bite my lip now I have my son. I now go where this shouldn't happen.

While I agree it is poorly situated the effect is lessened and it is less intimidating for the kids when they are doing it from the terraces. I also saw no salford woman giving any abuse near me. I was at the front of the salford fans and was continually abused by a large group of cas fans. hardly surprising I didn't hear one woman if she was there.

well I can confirm she was there giving out as good as the cas fans you say were giving it out. I could see here from the terracing in front of she was sat giving the middle finger and the f word a few times.
Maybe you should takl to your club with the lack of crowd there why open that stand let all away fans go on the terracing behind goal and you can use stand along the side of ground would solve all your problems.

If you read my post I did`nt recieve any abuse from any Cas fans, the OP was on the recieving end which incidently I did`nt witness nor the Salford supporter while were at at it.
Both bang out of order.
You mention why the family stand is situated where it is, simple it offers a great view.
You may not believe this but the vast majority of away supporters respect that stand for what it is.Myself and my son were up in the North Stand for the Wigan, Huddersfield and Saints games, not a problem at any of the games so it calls into question the behaviour of the Castleford supporters in the front seats of the North Stand on friday night,

| If you read the same thread on the CAS board it would appear that this group who were in the North stand cause trouble everywhere they go. The main culprit has been ID'd by his own fans on their board and it seems that the honest decent folk of Cas are sick of him and his followers.
There are issues that our club needs to get to grips with re. stewarding but it also seems that Cas have an issue with this particular group which they need to sort, as do we with a group of idiots who let us down at times.
We don't want behaviour that used to be attributed to football creeping into our game and we as fans should not tolerate it

| I dont really see how anyone can argue with the opening poster. This is a family stand for Gods sake and hence should be for people that want to take their kids to games and sit in a less intimidating part of the ground. People that want to stand and chant etc shouldnt be allowed in, its as simple as that.
