COACH Shaun McRae has the total support of his Salford Reds' chairman John Wilkinson.
McRae has come under fire from fans following three successive defeats, but Wilkinson says it's down to the team to start performing to maximum capability.
Wilkinson told MEN Sport: "Shaun has an important job to do and he will carry on doing that job.

| Has anyone else noticed the 'A good coach doesn't become A bad coach over night' phrase. Think we heard that just before Karl Harrison sacked???
Let's face the facts, coaches change and players change but the results stay the same. Well most of the players have changed. Prehaps the club needs to find another way of inspiring the players rather than changing the coach everytime things go wrong. With the exception of a few years under Harrison the team has gone out on the pitch week after week and appeared to put in little or no effort.
Don't know what happened in Florida but judging by the way it is supposedly effecting team spirit I can hazard a guess. So once again we are back to days of not being motivated.
Good leadership is the ability to inspire and encourage those around to produce their best as often as possible. So the coaches keep changing, yet the captain, until Alker got sacked, and chairman have always stayed the same. Hate to say it, but one of these two ICONS were/are not producing the inspiration required.

| So if Wilky goes so does the club, perhaps players are fed up with being spoon fed about the new stadium and nothing seems to be happening, and this is affecting their attitudes because I know I am totally fed up with all the talk or lack of it at present with the new stadium and nothing happening. I am now totally in the belief that we will not get a new stadium, and JW will leave the club after the Licence expires in 3 years time.

something will happen about the stadium, i believe this because peel holdings need that land developed more than we need a stadium.

| I am pleased that the chairman has not done anything rash, Shaun Mcrae will see us on the right path, it just will take a lot longer than some of the posters on this forum expected.
We were never going to compete straight away with established SL clubs or even finish top 8 as some talked about on here, we have to be patient and have faith in the chairman and the coach to do the job.
We have some good youngsters who need time to learn their craft but they will develop into decent SL talents, and see us getting a renewed licence through our on field performances and our position as the only SL franchise in the Manchester conurbation, the stadium will follow.
A bit of belief and positivity is needed now, all the bitcing and finger pointing needs to stop, booing and shouting abuse at individuals doesn't help anyone.
LET'S GET TOGETHER AND SUPPORT THE TEAM.

| I have no idea whether McRae can sort out this problem, but if he can't devise a new game plan then maybe he will have to go. Too many long serving fans are getting fed up of the promises of much in the future.
The issue is who has the skill to mould this team into a cohesive unit rather than the mismatched bunch they appear.
34 missed tackles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Sadly, it is that cohesion that doesn't seem to be on some of the players agendas. Witness Rob Parker, our Captain, in the Willows Bar after the game. There is something very, very wrong here and it is so painfully reminiscent of the final days of Karl Harrisons leadership.

| He was sat away from the other groups of players and looked utterly dejected to me. A couple of the younger lads were with him but none of the senior pro's. (Maybe I just saw one brief candid moment - who knows?)But, I felt the abuse he received as a likely contributory factor to his obvious demeanour. Sorry, but I felt sorry for the bloke - I doubt he asked for the Poisoned Chalice that being Alkers' successor would be, particularly in such covert circumstances.

You have to wonder what happened during Karl Harrison's last season. Did the players fall out in Florida that year? I know we were all annoyed when the likes of Coley, Robinson and Dorn were putting in some seriously lack lustre performances, but previous to that Coley and Robinson had always seemed quite loyal to the club.
How many of that team are left? I remain convinced that there is leadership issue, that doesn't seem to be fixed by changing the manager.

| I hope you stick by your coach.
He didn't fare too well over in Aus but he set a lot of structures moving that saw both Hull and Saints turn out decent sides with good youth.
Give him a season at least i say

| Maybe we got it wrong regarding the coley and robinson situation and they weren't the problem within the club!
They have long gone and yet were still stuck with problems within the camp.

Howard Clague was at the last meeting. A resume of what he said was posted on here by Shirley. To summarise:
> Peel are building the stadium. As a result they [iwill[/i own it too. In truth, they saved the project’s bacon when Red City Developments went into administration.
> There’s no retail element involved, as yet. Even if there were, the revenue goes to Peel, just as the revenue for match day food, refreshements etc. So the retail issue isn’t really a concern for us now.
> The stadium’s redesign (a tweak rather than a scaling down) means the project has to go through the planning/go-ahead process again. This should be a formality as the sticking point last time was the retail element.
> The redesign means that certain elements that were in the last proposal may not be included. This includes the standing area. These elements will be up for discussion between the club and Peel.
> Salford can still rent the stadium at a ‘peppercorn’ rate.
> Salford’s revenue will come from gates reciepts and sponsorship, both of which are planned to be more than we get now.
> Salford City College, a 25,000 student facility built into the project, would mean that the stadium’s food/refreshments area will be used through the year. Due to the volume of consumers, it promises to be one of the best/most capable in the country (as far as those built-in stadiums is concerned).

With 2.5 years to run on McRae's contract there is no way he will be going anywhere imo because in this economic climate the club simply can't afford a pay off. The club will be at their absolute financial limit with the new players we have brought in for this season.
I just hope the fans and the players realise this because they risk putting the club in serious financial trouble and possibly administration if they put pressure on the board to act.
Why is it always the coaches fault? It made me laugh when Harrison got sacked and then our players and fans came out and said it wasn't his fault and how sorry they felt!

The difficult thing for the club is that they are no longer directly involved with building the Stadium as they were in the Red City Developments days, Peel Holdings are and they decide when to release information. The last we saw was good news in January about the college taking up space in the building.

| Missed the Howard meeting due to work.
In the old project our revenue was incresed by the retail and other items, how will that stack up against these revise plans. I don't see we can generate sufficient income to pay the full cap.
As for sacking coaches, Karl seemed unwilling to adapt his plans for year 2. We can't afford to allow a coach to be so lacking in vision again.
Has anyone seen in the last 18 months anything that will suggest Salford will play the sort of Rugby we want?
