Initially yes from the A57 but I understand a road for non public motor traffic use will be available for emergency service vehicles only. I understand this service road will connect to a sub road of Peel Green road. Future plans are for a new dual carriageway running parallel to the M60 on the Trafford Centre side (Anti-clockwise). This road will run from the Peel Green roundabout with a traffic light turn under Barton bridge into the stadium site and then veering left past the back of the Soccer Dome and linking to the existing roads directly to the Trafford Centre. There will also be new slip road from the stadium site on to the M60 (Clockwise direction)
A couple more CGI's of the first phase of the new stadium below:-

| There are actually quite a few grounds with only one road in and out. Wigan, Leigh, Wembley!! I don't think access to the ground is going to be anymore difficult than at present getting to the Willows.

| The original CGI I saw had the corners covered or was this the later phases?
Does anyone recall this and do they have a link.

You are correct the corner terracing was originally in phase one. I'm told this was changed to phase 2 because non of the building contractors that tendered could meet the build price target figure of phase one.

Apart from the banqueting suite is there going to be drinking facilites.
Ive also not heard anyone mention or seen in the plans if a watering hole is planned to be built near by such as a brewers fayre or toby cavery?

That looks like phase 3 to me, with standing along one side.

I guess the timescale is a bit of an unanswerable one at the moment. The ground will be growing with the growing support the Reds get. So i guess its 'the more friends you bring the faster it will be developed'.

| Right, I guess it'll never get to the capacity of The Willows then, we may get the odd full house of around 8k but I doubt we'll ever achieve much beyond that unless we could maintain a winning side for a few years. They'd probably then start 2nd and 3rd stage only for us to be down on our luck again! Not good.

| The future development depends on two things.
Firstly financial matters, they will not consider upgrading until the retail has been sold off thus getting back the money they will have already laid out.
And the secondly the team/clubs performance, there will have to be the need to increase the capacity so for me it looks like it's be 12k for a very, very long time.
Oh and without sounding like I'm having a whinge, I agree the final design (if this is it) is fairly disappointing without anything being unique about the stadium. Even the main stand roof and floodlights are now looking to be bog standard, when before they had a little something about them.

I know what you mean but quite frankly I don't give a to*s as long as we keep our license and attract new sponsors/fans, allowing us to improve the quality of the squad.

Phase 1 is 12,000, so bigger than the Willows. Phase 2 = 15,000 and Phase 3 = 20,000. Who knows when/if we'll move beyond phase 1 though when you consider Wire haven't upped the HJ yet despite regularly coming close to capacity. I can't see us being used for a semi final host ground with a 12,000 capacity - maybe we'll get Engand v France/PNG type games.

| So hypothetically speaking, are we saying that most of us would have preferred to stay at The Willows than move into that atrocity of a stadium, if, we could have attracted better sponsorship, more fans, better players and a superleague licence?

| to me thats a nonsense question of course I would have rather stayed at the Willows if we could have met all the criteria you mentioned, but unfortunately its not just a matter of meeting those requirements the RFL dont want old rugby stadia anymore they want shiney min 12k capacity new builds, even if they are half empty and were stuck with what we are going to get.
Warrington have plans to increase the HJ to 18k over the next couple of years.

| What the stadium looks like isn't really the issue , what it can make you financially is the most important thing , are you going to be running it ? or will it be a council controlled SMC ?
A shame you arent getting the ' iconic ' design , although those plans quite possibly kept you in SL last time , as Cronus on the VT posted , shame that the RFL couldn't have done a deal with Peel and your'selves for a ' National RL stadium ' at Barton as per your original design with a 40,000 capacity , it could really have projected you to the top level

Now that's the outside of the box kind of thinking that makes a club a genuinely dominant and champion club. Too many people prepared to accept mediocrity under the umbrella term of "reality". Not that I understand them as I'm yet to discover what is meant by 'reality'.
A 40,000 seater national RL stadium used prodominantly by Salford City Reds in what is a fast growing national epicentre for entertainment. Well, on the Trafford side of the canal it is...

I really don't think it's an issue of mediocity of ambition within the club - the inital plans were stunning, but events just happened to knock that off course.
I agree a national RL stadium would be superb, but first you'd have have to get the RFL to back it (and they seem more interested in pouring good money after bad with the likes of Harlequins and Crusaders!), then you'd have to get all the other chairmen to agree - a bit like pushing water uphill!!
For me, the fact we are getting a new stadium (with room for expansion if things go well) and the board have obviously put money into recruitment and strengthening the team next season all bodes well - please, please let's get behind the club and stop whinging - IF folk are a bit disappointed then just keep it to yourself and put out some positive signals instead.
We all need to do what we can to promote Salford City Reds in this great new opportunity.
