As a result of the weather yesterday thereseemed to be zero activity on site today, just goes to show how fickle it can be. A 52 week build as is promised could extend a great deal if we have a winter as bad as last years.

Though we could always get Smithy blowing copious amounts of hot air over the site to thaw it should that happen

I noticed other clubs are quoting 48 weeks build time for their new stadia. I'd imagine the contractor will have a contingency plan to avoid having to pay late completion penalty fee's. I heard the other day that the main contractor will be announced in mid October and that building work is scheduled to start in less than 8 weeks time!

Nov 2010 is start date, so add 52 weeks to that (did you know 52 weeks is the same as one whole year) and we get Nov 2011, which is before 2012, unless your are a Fib dem and then it could be any number. Even if we start Building in June 2011, it will still be ready for June 2012, and I know Leigh's season is normally over by June, but SL carries on until September/October. So Salford even on your inability to add up will be in the stadium by 2012.

Does anyone know why there is one section of the land (sort of central) that doesn't appear to have been touched at all ?
It seems like a small uneven valley (if that makes sense) with vegetation still present, about 75yds by 40yds.
Has it been left for drainage or something similar ?
Apologies for being a numpty if it's actually quite obvious why it's there

Without an image of exactly where on the site you mean I can't really say, however if anyone can get an updated shot (which we desperately need BTW) I'll try and explain what was approved.

have a butchers at the updated landscape masterplan on page 1 . careful it's a 10mb document.
I'm guessing the bit you refer to is called Salteye Brook. It's basically a drainage culvert that would,ve fed into the old path of the Irwell which is being left ' on purpose ' as an environmental corridor , when matured it will also prove useful in blotting out both White Reclamations Yard and the Nimbies estate from the Stadium , and appease all the tree huggers.
There's also a partially culverted drainage channel running from the south east into the brook , which will have to be fully culverted and covered , the Stadium will sit to the South and the Retail part & Retail Car park to the North of the this channel . if you want in inside & out of this there is a 42 page Flood report published on 28th July on Page 5 of the planning site application docs.
Altold there's about 112 documents relating to the revised planning application now if anyones got time to plough through them all, worth a look now and again as you always find something unexpected like the wording " [iPotential future crossing to Metrolink Stop[/i".
