| Quote ="GT"Actually, most people I know are going along to constructively question the club about the current situation, find out the level of sh*te we are actually in and try to help find a way forward. Can't do that if you're just going with the intention of calling everyone c*nts. Similarly, if you're just going to laud Wilky and not be open to any criticism then you're not going to help either.
Middle ground, healthy debate and questioning. It's a shame it doesn't happen on here more often.'"
Whatever form your meeting takes I hope you all get the answers and results you wish for.
Good luck and let's hope it's positve news for a change.

| Quote ="RedTez"'ll be surprised if that actually happens tonight GT. They'll be the usual crew who hang onto every word John says and believe it with a passion, (look where that has gotten us!?), they'll be the sceptics who'll just listen but have been told not to rock the boat so won't say a thing, then they'll be the realist who will walk away totally dismayed that they've heard it all before!
I don't believe in the slightest that anyone will get answers tonight? Sure you're going to hear that the captain is back at the helm, he'll put a great spin on a desperate situation, he'll tell you that as long as we're all pulling in his direction we'll be fine. Nothing wrong with that so long as past mistakes have been learnt, however, I also think many attending will believe we're still on the same path as the Titanic.
Middle ground, healthy debate and questioning.? I'm not so sure mate, probably more of a lecture on how things have been and how things are going to be and a good old brow beating to anyone who thinks otherwise.'"
I am afraid after supporting & hanging on to every word of JW I actually agree wit Black cat & others, who say this is another tactic of JW & the board to buy more time, for me the only reason this meeting is taking place is because the cover has been broken & they need to real us in once again to believe every word said.
I will support Salford financially as a member of forever reds in any way I can but not with the present board who I have lost total faith in.
Good luck to all those supporters attending the meeting, I hope I am proved wrong.

| I can't see any light at the end of this.
JW hasn't got any money left.
Peel don't want to pay off the debts
There isn't a rich investor waiting in the wings.
Winding up or Admin is all I can see in our future sadly.

| Same old bullsh*t from 'Sir John', did I expect anything more? No and to the the club lauders you're doing more harm than anyone, no wonder the club can't see the error in their ways if you're happy to accept it!!!
Wilky slagging Tarry off was a highlight for me, the Chairman has kept him on for nearly 30 years, but knew he couldn't do his job deep down. Also he gives Simms loads of credit for organising flights to Catalan and coaches to London, then goes on to say how he also does this and that for the club including getting visas and player medicals....Ahhhh just like the medical he didn't give Phil Bailey, Luke Patten and Vinnie Anderson before they signed???
I'm all for getting helping the club believe me, no Salford = no Scholesy family, but what I heard today angered me greatly, yet again we were compared to Warrington and Hull....arrrgggghhhhhhhhhh I'm sorry Me chairman we're not Warrington or Hull and the 8000 attendance was never going to happen, you and Mr Tarry were told numerous times in meetings with myself yet still chose to ignore it.
Fuming is not the word...Salford as a top flight club is dead.
P.s - Wilky Lauders do one I'm not in the mood!

About 200 I'd estimate (I couldn't see much of the upper level)
Yes, a couple. Plus some people who have had past discussions re being recontacted.
It was said that all wages are paid up to date (though I think it was said there was one person as an exception - I wasn't sure on that bit)

Probably because money can be paid into the account, it just can't be paid out.

If the Chairman had not started the meeting with the opening statement as he did some people would have been unhappy and as you were there you would have noticed that the statement had actually covered many of the questions that people had emailed in.
He then was asked and to my knowledge answered 40/45 questions that had been previously submitted including I presume many from members of your family plus a few from the floor.
On David Tarry the Chairman was asked a specific question regarding the former Chief Executive and his answer was as I heard it something on the lines of " I am am very disappointed over the David Tarry affair" which was not a slagging off to my mind.
On the Steve Simms section the chairman has explained many times just what Steve Simms job is and has been for 10 years or so and he obviously felt that he needed to say it again and he also clearly stated that the coaches have always been the ones who see the list of players available and as such some responsibility should be laid at their door for any errors or mistakes.
The comparison with Warrington (I missed any mention of Hull apart from Mcrae convincing Houldsworth that he should leave us for them)was as I understand it in response to a question about their chairman and his role in moving the club from Wilderspool and how the crowds increased since then.
The meeting was well run and the people who attended were clearly there to listen to what had gone on and they listened and conducted themselves very well and yes they would have come away with differing views and opinions but we are all different and have differing views on what has happened over the last few years and as was pointed out last night we should look on what is in the future and not what has gone on in the past.
The Chairman has accepted that the buck stops with him and not many people nowadays step up and do that, the club have made mistakes and these mistakes appear to have cost a couple of individuals a huge amount of money and several years of their and their families lives and I for one and judging by many at last nights meeting others are grateful for what has been put into the club over a long period of time.
Off what I heard from various people last night there is a good chance the one way or another the club can survive with the help of fans who are committed to the club whoever is in charge and it will be interesting to see if any fund materializes to assist in the survival.

He seemed to praise Simms for ensuring the contract for Moon was drafted correctly so the club won the tribunal.However,2 former players, both with a year left on their contracts, are on a winding-up order for monies owed.Perhaps their contracts weren't watertight and brokered to suit the club.
Anyway, can't change the past.To paraphrase Winston Churchill - War war not jaw jaw - Actions speak louder than words.Let someone start to get the money in.The country shuts for a fortnight.

Yes it did come up, it was raised in a question from the floor.
The answer given was that as we had no marketing money to spend we did a deal with a radio company for free advertising, for that they could give out tickets.
It was admitted that there had been some abuse of the system and it won't be running this year (mind you a lot of things might not be running this year!)

| It sounds flippant amongst the impending financial meltdown, but I can't have been the only person gobsmacked with the news that the coach thinks we're well covered in the prop forward position.

| As I said previously work commitments meant I couldn't attend but as other have said the future certainly looks clouded at the minute.
One thing that does worry me is that it is reported that the RFL are in negotiations with a serious investor who wishes to take over the club but as yet they have not divulged the identity of this person to the board.
My questions are why would the investor be having dialog with the RFL when surely they should be in contact with the owner/board and should the interested party prove genuine will the RFL offer assistance until any due diligence is completed to allow squad strengthening and other urgent needs pre season?

Agreed I feels like discussing whether you like the music the band is playing on the deck of the Titanic .
At the meeting there was a lot of deflecting recruitment choices to the incumbent Coach , IE McCrae choices/ Parish Choices / Veivers choices ,
the available candidates were drawn up by SS via agents etc , contracts & work permits sorted by SS .
I don't think it's the breadth of cover at prop but Veivers ultimately not wanting to waste valuable wages on a player who wanted out. At the moment it will be a rare breed who wants in .

My main concern on this would be whether there would be any assurance that this person can't "do a Winkelman" and move the franchise to Edinburgh/Dublin/Bristol/Cardiff/Reykjavik.

| Apologies if it’s been mentioned, however, was a question put to the chair regarding season tickets, or the lack of them?
I’ve no idea how many were sold last season, but, if there had been a couple of thousand adults, surely that would have put some money into the coffers.
