| Yeah, anyone within the city that has had any interest in the club at any time in their life should be at the Willows for that final fixture. The Willows is an enormous part of our history and deserves a fitting send off. You only have to look down the road and the disgraceful end to Station Rd. Swinton will never recover. 4,000 at our final game would feel like being at a funeral. We should be getting at least double that for the Catalans game. Heres hoping!
A cup run would be a start to gain some momentum. If we could reach the semis/final that would get people talking about the club again.

| The future of Salfords crowds lie outside of Salford. Even a winning team will see an apathetic response from the people who live in our city. In the new ground they will have the new excuse that it's now too difficult to get to, will cost too much to get there by local transport or the gate price will be too high.
I think that's one reason why the board really wanted the Barton site. Nowhere else in Salford would the club get that kind of exposure and get it out to people outside of the catchment area. And all for free! ( well free-ish).

| Our crowds are shocking and always will be unless we start winning. The problem is when we do actually get a good crowd (wire at home for example) we go and let everyone down by getting d!cked its been the same for years, the club have no one else to blame apart from the 17 players who seem to let us down every other week.

Ave it, unfortunately, is right. We just start to build some momentum, and whallop we throw it all away by losing to the Crusaders, or like he says, "getting d!cked by Warrington". Not that anyone expects us to win against Warrington, but a spirited and galant lose would send people home saying, "Well if they can do that against Warrington, what can they do against a slightly lesser side?" Similar to what happened after the Wigan game!!

I buy more into the play well and they will come, rather than build it and they will come.
I really think, the club are trying to get a new manager in place for next season and have, possibly, decided to let Vievers carry on in the meantime. I'll not digress, but better performances would result in better crowds!!! I'll still wonder where we would be now if the club had managed to sign Mozza on his return from Aus. Not the be all and end all, but we were on the crest of a wave and the local boy done good would have spurred us on further.
Maybe a few more local players would increase attendances?

I get a feeling that Morley might be approached at the end of the season for one year playing for Salford at the new ground and bet he would jump at the chance. Throw him the captains armband and for me you might have the marketing tool to get the new ground in peoples minds and a motivated local lad who wants to help his hometown.
On the Salford born players the Waktins Brothers aside there aren't that many and can't see either Bradford or Leeds letting either go.

It might be too late in Mozza's career, for him to make a difference. Asking him to play on, might be one season too many for his body? On the other hand, he may provide the inspiration that the team needs, to lift their game to the next level. He could make a very good player/ assistant coach also?
As for local lads, is Adam Neal not from Salford? If you are including Irlam/Cadishead as Salford. What about Adam Clay, where is he from?

| Yes Neal is from Irlam. Think Clay is from Warrington.
Cant see there being more than the odd Salford born and bred player in super league anytime soon.

| 1st Money - unless you have a season card - ticket , you wouldent pay £20 pound unless you was die hard.
2nd Performence - If you lose game after game at the willows why would you turn up.
3rd Marketing - The games are only advertised on the offical website , and rugby league websites, i wouldent be suprised half the people in salford knew a game was on.
Thats basic

I don't think this the main reason people don't come. The fixtures are shown in the Advertiser, MEN, National newspapers and also available to check online or on text etc. It's just an excuse this imo. The reasons people don't attend are:
1. They have no interest in rugby or sport.
2. They can't afford it or don't want to pay the admission price.
3. They have other priorities/things to do.
4. A lot of people only like watching a winning team full of stars.
5. Some people are attracted by demand and would go if the place was full and had a big match atmosphere.
6. They don't like the facilities.

think the "no interest in rugby" point is the main problem - where I work there are approx 20 blokes, and I think perhaps only 2 of them know anything about RL !!!! (they both said they'll come to the new ground though interestingly)

Interesting point about the £20 on the day. It is £12 however for members and £18 for pre booked tickets. Considering we are are moving to a new stadium and it's a whole new era for the club, what do you think the admission prices should be at Barton to really help attract a lot more people through the turnstiles? Personally I'd prefer to see twice the numbers for much less than twice the current gate revenue. I believe that demand creates further demand and would help increase revenue in other areas like sponsorship and merchandise.
For instance should the club take a view that we will have 12,000 places to sell x 13 games and set a target of £1m a season for gate revenue? Would this be more achievable and realistic at lower prices than aiming higher and hoping for the best? (Just because we will be playing in a new stadium) At the end of the day we don't have anywhere near the same pull as a Premier League football club (especially with so much competition in this area) and people have lots of choices such as the Cinema at £7-£8.
Would be interested to know what other people's thoughts are?

Made more noise than Salford fans. Dire atmosphere equal dire performance. Partly feel sorry for the players, how they're expected to get pumped up for games with about 30-40 people singing in the shed. Sometimes feel players are having a laugh at the fans when they say ' [ished was brilliant last night[/i '. Been every home game this season, only fans we've prob been louder than is the Bradford lot! Reason for that is because they was gettin tonked!
