Is the good Doctor taking the wrong medication currently? A world record fee
There does come a time to dig your heels in, but rather than being so bullish when things like this crop up, Dr Koukash would probably be better considering why this has happened in the first place. If he fixed those elements, maybe things like this wouldn't crop up so much. It doesn't seem like this is related to money, Salford claim to have beaten Fages demands and on longer terms.
I'm not sure how cashed up the Dragons are at the moment, but would like to see them take Fages back. The best French players should always play for a French team to encourage the sports development over there. Saints certainly won't be paying a world record fee for anyone, I certainly can't see us reaching six figures.'"
I wouldn't pay over £60k for him.

| Quote ="BartonFlyer"Given the rumours that have been circulating for weeks/months now does it really matter?
I think it does considering we have lost 8 on the bounce and desperately need a result on Sunday, a game Fages is/was due to play in.
It's obvious Theo Fages has been tapped up and his agent and the interested club have asked Fages to hand in the request now when we are down on our luck. Fages isn't going anywhere until next year at the earliest so why hand in the request now?

| It's clearly not about the money,he wants to play for a more successful club.
Good luck to him.
Really sorry that we're losing him.
He's had a regular starting place this season, for most of the time,so we've seen his strengths and weaknesses.
He's currently the third best halfback at the club, although he generally stays fit !
My main worry isn't about Theo,it's whether it's part of a wider malaise.

What for a 20 year old International halfback? If 60K is the going rate we'll take half a dozen.

If he were to move to a top 4/5 team he'd still be playing second fiddle there as he is here!
Do you honestly think he'd oust Brough, Smith, Myler or Walsh (when fit) from the No. 7 shirt?
The only top 4/5 team who I think would be interested would be Leeds as Burrow is coming to the end of his career.
I'm sure they'd be thinking a bit bigger then Fages though, especially with the Marquee Player Rule coming in.'"

| With hindsight we now know the impossible is possible that we can have our first choice 6, 7 & 9 out for at least 6 games at the same time. Theo has done his best and it's lucky we have had him available for this period but to be honest I prefer Chase & Dobson.

| It's not necessarily the thought of not being able to replace Theo Fages that concerns me. It's the uncertainty that things aren't quite as they should be behind the scenes. With players leaving or wanting to leave, do they think we aren't progressing as a team and have little chance of improving much next year and beyond? I could fully understand talented players wanting to leave in the past when finances were limited but do we now have a different problem?

| One or two on this forum have over egged Theo in the past. What I will say for the for the kid he never gives less than 100% yes his long kicking game is flawed, but that can be rectified,so we did not need Dobson if Theo does go we will get no more than 50,000

| You got about 100K for Sneyd who had a year left on his contract, so i'd expect about the same for Fages who although younger, isn't quite yet as good as Sneyd.

| Quote ="John Gilbert Reds"Patterson is only on a one-year deal anyway, so his contract is up at the end of the season. Heard similar stories myself but the club he had been speaking to was Leigh!
Apparantly his agent has advised him to stay where he his, as a high profile head-coach (no prizes for guessing who) will be in charge next season.
I don't know what to believe at the moment though.'"
I can see why Theo would want to leave as he is behind two very good half backs but Patterson is a mystery, for me the best second row at the club by some distance this season and even better when he plays in the centres.
He is one I'd be giving a long term deal to and using as the foundation for progression.
I can only assume that Sheens coming over was too check out the club, the facilities and possibly the area with an eye to taking up the head coaches role when his current coaching role comes to an end. I doubt any of us would have an issue with the current Australian national coach taking over the reigns.

Some would prefer the dream team of Alker, Goulding and Gregory.

| The problem Salford has is that when Dobson becomes available again your going to drop Theo.
Thats why he has to leave? Then again if he goes to a top 4 club would he be first choice there?

Unlikely but would you want to be second choice at Salford or second choice at Leeds/Saints/Wigan/Catalan

| Or is he responding to a greater malaise. I noted that today's MEN had lines that we were still open to offers for Locke: why is this a story? Few, if any of us, would put up with this treatment and expect the boss to make a public statement supporting his employees. Thunderous silence.
Perhaps the lad has rightly decided being treated as serf is not for him.

| Heartbreaking to see such a young talent want away from the club. The only reasons i can see why he wants out is the treatment of staff and players. Alan Hunte, the man who nurtured him was sacked recently, the treatment of Tony Puletua, some of which i saw with my own eyes was embarrassing and one of the reasons also why i think Tasi has left. Add to that the treatment publicly of Kevin Locke. They are the stories we have heard but i'm sure there are many more behind the scenes. Obviously players from other clubs talk so i'm concerned we have a very poor reputation of treating players badly throughout the game.
I can understand with Theo being behind Chase and Dobson in the pecking order he wants a first team place, I personally would use him as an alternate 9 when Dobson is back. Maybe signing Logan Tomkins was the final nail in the coffin.
I really hope he stays but i guess only time will tell.
I feel the club need to work hard to clear the air on all fronts, and fast!

He'd be 5th choice at Wigan.
If he wants to leave then fair enough - I can understand why considering he's behind Dobson and Chase. He's at the point in his career where he needs a consistent run of games.

The only way it's even halfway true is if you get paid a tenner every time you spell something wrong or make a tits up of an apostrophe.
