| Quote ="eccles star"we might not be able to afford a dietition so it should be down to the players and should not be aimed at the club. Most of these players have been playing long enough now to know what to eat and what not to eat so i dont no how you can use that excuse really. but i would ask the question on fitness and why we never seem to turn up for 80 mins'"
Do you know what the going rate is for a dietician? Do you know if the club is unable to afford a dietician? Do professional organisations leave something as important as individualised dietary requirements down to the players? At what point did I make any excuses? Does failing to turn up in the first 10 minutes of a game indicate an issue with firness? What do you think the word 'fitness' means?
Not having a go at you. Just seeking clarification of your points.
Quote ="LEDGE787"Is this thread about a new Head coach or The Mens Health page?!'"
It's an attempt to highlight to the more simplistically minded contributors of the forum that the club needs to do more than sign a new head coach... A holistic and contemporary mindset is required to significantly improve the fortunes of the club. Would you agree?

| I would definately agree yes but I would like to get the head coach in first, see what he thinks is required staff wise and take it from there but I do believe he should be given a blank canvas to appoint/sack whoever he pleases within the budget he will be given. The way I see it the last 3/4 games haven't been about the way we end games but about the way we have started them so surely this can't be a fitness thing?! Wouldn't you agree?

In terms of physical fitness, I agree completely. However, their mental fitness does seem to lack something. Especially, for want of a better word, some players arousal levels at the start of each half. Now, in some cases this may be a case of not being aroused enough (and this is by no means purely a job for the coach) whereas other players, as strange as this may sound, may be overly pumped up. In this case, players can induce a sensory overload state which can result in player's failing to pick up on the necessary information... (ARGH! Promised myself I wouldn't get too technical.) Just trust me on this one. It's possible to be overly pumped up for a game. And no, I'm not subtly applying for a job.

I don't quite understand the question I'm afraid? Surely as an ex-coach, you'll have ideas on how to deal with poor morale? That's presuming that their is poor morale in the team of course.

I said it earlier in the thread but it kind of got overlooked but I watched the Vievers interview and he is just so dour, I simply can't imagine him being motivational in any way shape or form. I'd have suggested the prime person to take this kind of geeing them up pre game role was Alker but he's out of the frame so I'm a little stumped.

It's while we have experts posting in the thread, it'd be good to know which players we could perhaps do a chant for if they aren't pumped up enough.
You know, as opposed to those who are too pumped up and so make silly decisions or drop the ball.

| i don't think any question on here is being sarcastic: your input shows you have knowledge into which we would like to tap.
Re morale: the issue is important as we seem so fragile. Only the sad game v Hull showed we could fight back; I am loathe to use this game as the in consistency within the team was ... words fail me.
I do have ideas (getting a head coach asap is the priority) but haven't coached since the end of the last century. So new ideas would be of interest.

Personally, I think there's some potential candidates there to do what Nathan Brown has done, who, let's face it, was just as big a gamble as any of these.

| Why do fans of other clubs come on our forum and make comments like the wally from Huddersfield?! None of us care if you wouldn't be excited about any of the names on the list, I wouldn't be too excited about Paul Anderson being our next head coach either!! Stick to your own forum and keep your opinions of our club to yourself!

To be fair to Brown, he was head coach at St. George Illawarra for about four or five years, running them close to the title in 2005. Most of the chaps we're linked with don't have that pedigree. A better analogy would be Michael Maguire.

From that list of overseas coaches I think Peter Gentle has probably the highest pedigree working with Tim Sheens at a succesful club like West Tigers for 3 years. Gentle also has an assistant coaching role with the Australian national team as a defence coach and video analyst.

It would be interesting to see what our resident Australians think of the shortlist and who they prefer to see at The Willows. For all their respective credentials, the lads may like one of the candidates and think another is a right nob.

| I would imagine Adrian Lam would be looking at the Wigan job for starters. Brian Noble would be the ideal chioce for Salford at this moment in time. He could put the building blocks inplace like he did at Wigan from 2006 to 2009. Maguire reaped the benefits from Noble's hardwork.
