I went to watch (though due to the fog I didn't see a great deal) Sale last night as a friend is from Northampton and a friend of one of the Saints players and it struck me that despite the simiiar sized crowd, fewer traveling fans and lack of chants that with the east stand full of home fans the atmosphere was much better than with everyone in the South stand and it made for a much greater shot for the TV cameras. Sp think it would be much better to try and get everyone into there and get a bit of a shed type environment going.

The getting to the ground was still a nightmare (though still say some form of traffic control on the motorway junction would ease that massively, the bar staff were using the wrong beer gas on the lager products in the fans bar but all that said there seems to be work starting on the link road and it looks like parts of the car parks have been extended.

Doom and gloom aside it made me miss my rugby last night and regardless which players run out onto the park I can't wait for 01.02.2013 as you can dick us all about but deep down we're Salford fans and we'll be there in our normal role as gluttons for punishment.

agree last season half way through i went into the east stand when open much better view, carried on going in to the west stand , you just cannot beat being on the sides in rugby , it ok when your traveling or if the stand was taller it would improve it

Ideally, the East Stand would have been standing rather than seats. The South Stand terrace is far too shallow for my liking, those at the LSV and Warrington are much better. I think it's a decent idea though to try and get it a bit like the Shed. It might even be better for the players as well, having the vocal support all down one side rather than at just one end. For the Widnes game, I bet it felt not too far off a home game for them when their players ran out to an almost full East Stand.

i for one like the east stand, and if it's open make it my first choice, however the club think it is the first stand to close.
at the Widnes game i was in there when it was turned into a away game, and our players did not play ( i hope there where not paid)

in rugby union the first rule is close the stand under the TV cameras
get the stand opposite full

so why did we get build the ground the way it did.
OK it was not us, but we must have had a say, both Peal and the city of salford must be after what is best to get the best for the ground.
