Can't disagree with anything you've said their LF and hopefully people will show the same sentiment to Malc in his last few games for us. Regardless of what anybody says Malc has been one of the best and easily the most loyal player i've seen in my 17 years watching Salford. I still think he would have gained more international honours playing elsewhere and deservedly so but can't thank him enough for showing us passion, commitment & loyality through hard times.
and this years Ian Gormley Memorial Trophy goes to.... Karl Fitzpatrick for his exploits at the Stoop
I was think more along the lines of ' King Cantona Style ' Tee-shirts or Flags not any martial arts !
I remember Blackburn Rovers issued Tugay masks ( Their long Serving Turkish International Midfielder ) for his last game , that was weird. It was against West Brom who were relegated and the baggies fans all turned wearing Tony Mowbray Masks..
So that could be done if only for the chant - " there's only 3,000 Alkers , 3,000 Alkers !
'"
Surely this is something that Forever Reds could organise? Rustle up a few cheapo paper Malc masks and knock them out for say a quid each with any money made going to FR funds
Either that or say minimum donation 50p as I'd certainly throw a fiver in. The money could then be put towards some sort of permanent tribute for one of our greatest ever servants. I'd be quite willing to donate a couple of hours of my time cutting the masks out!!!
A cheaper idea would be to provide drawing pins or gravel to put in peoples shoes so that we all can all run Alker-stylee.
In all seriousness tho Malc does deserve some kind of acknowledgment from the fans for his dedication to the club. Probably better to do it before he takes his coaching post cause he'll end up getting nowt but boos from some of our neanderthals at that point...
