| Good luck to him. He has been a fantastic servant for the club. He may not have the most talent in the world but I remember the dark days of 2005/6 and how I just would've been happy to see total commitment and passion from the team and I'd have killed for a Willie Isa. He has given it absolutely everything, for every second of his time here.

| Takes the gloss off the Farrell announcement a little.
Wonderful servant to the club and rugby league. Always felt it was unrealistic for him to make it back, but it looks like he was ready to go, which highlights how tough and committed he is.
Big hole to fill in the squad from a leadership point of view.
Few tougher players have taken the field in a Wigan shirt.

| Spoke to Willie tonight and he told me he would have been fit to play in the first game of the season. Sadly for us, but great for him, he has been given an opportunity outside the sport that he couldn’t turn down. Good luck to him, he will always be an adopted Wiganer. The young lads will miss him.

| He's played a big part in shaping who Wigan are as a club. Every club needs players like Willie who live and breathe the standards the team aspire to - not many have them, which makes him such an important part in where we are now.
Good luck to him, sounds like it must be a great opportunity to make him want to move away.

| Good luck Willie with your new opportunity
As many have said, a great team member who is hard as nails. Maybe not the most gifted player, but 100% every single week when he pulled on the shirt, and as fans thats all we can ask for. I'd put him up in the Dean Bell tough as teak class (but not quite as gifted )

| Interested to find out what his new opportunity is. I get the feeling it must be something exciting for him to step away from Wigan and playing Rugby League. Chuffed for him in that respect. He's given his all to the club and deserves to walk away on his terms.

Yes, as fans, many of us probably don't think too much about what the players are going to do post playing days. Most are early 30s when they retire and still got best part of 30 years working life left, as most (if not all) aren't going to be able to retire off what they earn
i know he's probably not retired how he wanted, but if the opportunity to secure his future is too good to turn down, you cant knock the guy for that and looking after himself and his family

| We could not have asked or expected anything more than we got from Willie. I wish he could have signed off his career on the pitch, but I am glad he has got something that sounds like it should be really good for him. He has certainly earned it and he will be fondly remembered. I am sure we will see him back at the Brick from time to time.

It's certainly sad but Isa signing off from the field waving to the crowd, with his foot facing the wrong way sums up the guy. Tough as nails but always humble.

I agree with this comment, some players help instil professionalism in the younger players,

I believe that it is a really good job in women's football and has come up sooner than expected. Coupled with Wigan wanting to clear some cap for a new signing, it is good timing and deemed to be the best decision.

I wondered if it may be something in the women's game, with his links through his partner and his love of Liverpool. I've seen him on the Liverpool fan TV channel a couple of times, so guess it would be an interesting job for him in football somewhere.
