Challenge Cup final to move from Wembley to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

The 2022 Challenge Cup final will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 28 May 2022 as it moves from its traditional Wembley home.

Wembley has hosted most finals since 1929, with the event briefly moving to the Principality Stadium and Twickenham during redevelopment in the 2000s.

The final will move back across north London and return to Wembley in 2023.

Well that is an incentive to win the Cup next year!

Ive never been to spurs stadium. It will enable me to tick it off my list

TBH I wasn't even aware that they were moving back to May

Here's a quote from a 2018 report:

"The Rugby Football League have signed a new deal for the final to remain at Wembley, its traditional home for almost a century, until 2027....."

So I guess that 'deal' was always subject to the dates not moving around, or any other higher priority sport wanting to use Wembley.

Not really. Only current premier league stadiums I havent been to are Spurs new stadium, Norwich and West Ham. Hoping to tick off Norwich also this year

You should give the Totally Wicked Stadium a try sometime as well la. It's alright if you remove the plazzy Scousers from there.

How ridiculous. They signed a deal to have it at Wembley each July, the week before schools finish. That is obviously the best date to get as many youngsters involved. The RFL is clearly trying to kill off the game at all levels. If they worked with school liaison officers and schools and community clubs up and down the country, they could fill wembley every year. That would in turn lead to massive increase in junior rugby league. anyone who thinks that school and junior community rugby league is not the future of the game still has their head down a pit in Wakefield or Wigan.

Problem with CC Final is that it use to be a singular club event day in the RL calendar.

Now with SL GF, Magic Weekend, and Northern Rail Cup, Blackpool Weekender etc (or whatever names they're going by) going to the CC Final no longer especially attractive if your team isn't involved, when you can spend your money elsewhere.

So the sport makes it an attractive concept that involves everyone; make it a great day out again for the whole RL community. The more youngsters involved, the better long term.
