Ryan Hampshire kicks a restart about 5 yards forward, on the full, into touch and Clarke laughably applauds him, when, in reality, it just typified the dire quality of RL on display in recent weeks.

Little wonder we are on our ar$e as a sport if we are accepting some of the mediocre stuff we are witnessing as an acceptable quality of rugby.

I know Sky are on some crazed BLM agenda throughout their sporting output, crowbarring in black analysts at every opportunity, but you really think they'd actually audition them before putting them on air to see if they are upto the job... Kallum Watkins just looked like a rabbit in the headlights - absolutely embarrassing.

I was very impressed with John Wilkin last week on the BBC. He knows the game backwards, but also has a business, political and common sense brain.

Whoever left that biology textbook lying around has a lot to answer for. All of a sudden every injury is summed up in pseudo medical terms like an advert for shampoo.

Leon Price was excellent a couple of weeks ago. I haven't seen him in theTV 'summariser' role before but he looked a natural. Watkins wasn't up to it, and, let's face it, for all that he was a great player, Ellery Hanley is a poor speaker on camera as well.

Not Phil Clarke related but, of all the sports I've seen (post lockdown) RL has been as good as anything.
The ambient crowd noises almost make you forget that its not being played in an empty stadium.

With regard to the commentary, yes, at times, it's cringeworthy but, ultimately, there are too few people doing too many games.

In the same way that Stevo became cliched and predictable, there is always going to be some major repetition.

First week of games on sky

Ta. he certainly knows the game. been around along time, won more trophies than most. (all except Edwards and Gilmour I believe), and from good stock.

Leon, Jon Wilkin and Kev Brown have been the best of the pundits.

How can sky think that the ‘70’s style indoor league with Fred Trueman’ with Baz and Tez is anywhere near credible.
Having said that, Tez is the worst by some distance
