I thought this topic deserved a poll, to gauge fans view on the proposal, to reset all clubs points to 0 in the Super 8's from 2018.

The trouble is,neither option is any good.

Literally one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard and could genuinely make me consider why I even bother going to watch.

Stupid idea. If 7th/8th are too far off 4th then tough, you've had plenty of chance. Nothing stopping those teams outside the current top 5 closing the gap on them between now and the Super 8's except themselves.

Call the season over after round 23, replace the tin-pot LLS with a proper trophy and bring back the BBC 'Floodlit' knock-out trophy after the seasons over.

I wouldn't be in fair of re-set points, but I do think a tiered point system would be quite beneficial to avoid 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th from dropping off too far - i.e. 1st start with 16, 2nd start with 14, 3rd start with 12, and so on...

But I prefer how it is now.

The way the premier league is structured, mid table teams have nothing to play for yet it doesn't affect the leagues tv deals, exposure, crowds etc...stick with what we've got and focus on how we can get the fans back and negotiate a better tv deal for the clubs!

This season has produced one of the most entertaining leagues yet with still so much to play for...Huddersfield finding form and making a late push up the league, the battle for 8th between Catalan, Warrington etc...a potential million pound game between two French sides, seeing if last years relegated side bounces straight back, the battle for the top 4...seeing if Cas can go all the way and whether Salford can maintain the chase on them. There are very few teams who don't have anything to play for. If teams do get cast adrift at the bottom of the super 8s, those teams should be grateful theyve avoided relegation and use those games to test combinations , blood youngsters, have offers on tickets to get fans in etc.

Teams that don't perform well will find themselves out of contention at some point in the season and that's just the way it is. Manipulating the competition format just to try and give teams that have failed a second chance is not right or fair.

What needs to happen is clubs genuinely striving for the play offs and then actually competing when they get there. Bitching about being too many points off the top 4 when you know the rules before the season starts is ridiculous, but more damaging to the game IMO is teams qualifying then playing like they couldn't care less.

Resetting points looks massively unpopular, I'm surprised 18% support the idea. I hope the fans are consulted in someway before this is put to a vote by the clubs.
