Everyone makes out like Australia is some kind of paradise. It isn't. Statistically alot of expats actually end up coming back. Seen any suicide statistics on the younger population? Not good.

Yeah, he has done amazingly well. Most people wouldn't have had him in the best three hookers in SL when he left. In this form, he is probably in the top three hookers in the world.

Australians are either surprized or bewildered by that, and when poms learn that Australians think of them a pasty little people with an odd superiority complex, they head off back home.

I've been a couple of times and you realise quickly that it's actually a bit backwards culturally when compared to the UK. If you except the indigenous culture, which has a very separate and distinct identity to the mainstream of Australia, then there is very little depth to the culture. This is particularly an issue when you get outside the major metropolitan areas, then it's a bit like living in a small northern ex-pit village except you're at least 2 hours drive from the nearest medium sized town.

What an odd sweeping statement to make. I've personally had 3 sets of Aunties & Uncles as well as 6 good friends move to Australia over the years. Of them the ones to return, which has been about half. It's been because they either miss family, especially when new ones are born, got a better job over here, or once the warm weather and beaches novelty wore off, they just preferred England.
I've spent a fair bit of time In Australia over the years, plenty of my relatives are Aussies and I've never heard anyone say anything about 'pasty little people with an odd superiority complex'. Also I don't know anyone that's gone over that thinks they're special just because they're in the Colonies. I mean seriously who thinks that way.

Australian cities regularly score well in the Economist Intelligence Unit rating of the world's most livable cities. Melbourne is Number One in 2016, and Perth and Adelaide are also in the top 10. Sydney only fell out of the top 10 -- falling from 7th to 11th -- because of 2 terrorist attacks in 2015. Silly really. Sydney is obviously one of the nicest places in the world to live -- eclipsed only by Leigh, Widnes, Oldham, Bradford, Chorley, East Hull, and Rochdale.
