Fair play to the guy, he has come a long way in a short space of time.

However, I haven't seen him since Round 1 where he failed to control a heated game between Leigh and Bradford and was the direct cause of a number of punch-ups, and showed I think 5 yellow cards and not one red. I hope he has learnt some valuable lessons since that game.

think you'll find that was down to the players fella, not the ref. If the players can't control themselves it is they whom are at fault, same as when they knock on, forward pass, be offside, hold down. If players played to the rules and/or didn't make mistakes in each and every single game of RL ever played then the ref wouldn't have to make many decisions.

I was going to comment that I don't remember Joe goading anyone in to fighting, or throwing the first punch.

If this means he will not be available to 'referee ' the match at Odsal when Bulls play Leigh then I am delighted for him.

However, failing to penalise and appropriately handle foul play - which Joe Cobb was accountable for, leads to players feeling they have to stick up for themselves as they feel the referee isn't going to protect them.

The 'direct cause' was players wanting to hit each other. The secondary causes could have included the referees actions/inactions.
