Indeed, for someone who is at best the 4th best hooker in Superleague after Clark, Roby and McIlorum (and arguably even lower in the pecking order), he seems to have a very high opinion of himself.

I'd put Lunt ahead of McIlorum and Hodgson but other than completely agree.

Fair enough, I think many wouldn't rank Hodgson in the top 4.

The Brits who've been successful in Australia have generally been considered the best at their postion over here; Reilly, Hanley, Ward, Graham, Tomkins etc etc. It's a big ask for someone who is only the 4th/5th/6th(?) best hooker to go over there and do well.

There is nothing wrong with him being positive about his prospects but to say he hopes to not play in super league again. & continue the rest of his career in oz is a big statement.

One which I don't recall James Graham or Sam Tomkins of recent years saying when they left and they are both players who we would all probably agree where the standouts in their positions whilst over here.

I see nothing wrong with what he says and if he has the intention to stay in the NRL for the next 5-10 years then good luck to him.

He probably won't be one of the top earners at the Raiders so the expectations won't be as high as with the likes of Burgess and Tomkins and if he hadn't been selected for England on the back of a couple withdrawls then i reckon he would be going over under the radar, without too much expected of him much like Mike Cooper this year who has held his own.I don't expect him to rip it up but absolutely no reason why he can't do a job and carve out a career over there if thats what he wants, they aint all Super men in the NRL like some people seem to believe you have to be to play in it.

I don't think some people realise how good Hodgson is. He had an excellent season in a very average Hull KR side.

Mcillorum looks ok in a good side that is on the front foot, once the going gets tough he resorts to being a penalty machine. Clarke had an excellent season but doesn't play enough minutes. Lunts form has dipped.

Not saying Josh will set the world on fire over there but aside from Roby there are no stand out English hookers, the rest are all pretty much a muchness.

Actually I think he is. Very good player who Rovers will struggle to replace.

Letting him leave for the sake of a couple of grand was just another thing to add to Agars list of master strokes. Far better all rounder than Houghton.
