Can someone explain what this game actually means? Does it decide who gets promoted to Super League? Or are they both already up to replace Bradford and London?

Where have you been hiding - Super league is being reduced to 12 teams.

As both clubs finished 1st & 2nd in the league, they both benefit from extra funding for next season.

The point of todays game, erm, a trip out for the fans to see their club pick up a trophy.

I gave up on this season around June time when I realised Saints were terrible and wouldn't have a chance of winning anything again. I knew they had done something with the re-organisation but didn't bother reading what it was.

Seems harsh on the top Championship sides? Surprised there hasn't been any controversy about it?

London should finish 3rd and that is all they need to start the climb out of the "abyss".

I think 8/9 out of the 12 harbour reasonably realistic hopes of finishing in the Top 4 - Hunslet, Batley and Whitehaven will struggle IMHO.

From a Bulls' pov absolutely not. The biggest hurdle to overcome in any promotion attempt is losing intensity in games before the SL opposition in the 'middle eights'. My hope is that [i:1vrzebvrevery[/i and targets us from match one.

Still feel the task of beating SL clubs is going to be very difficult though.

Almost as harsh as relegating the bottom 5 from the Championship !

Ah well, at least when we get to next season, "every minute of every game will be important"



The structure of the game is an utter disgrace and changing numbers within each division with such regularity is both short sighted and damaging to the long term good of the game, it's no wonder that fans are turning away from RL.

Will be interesting to see what happens this first season.

The clubs finishing in the SL bottom four will be going into the 'middle 8' on the back of defeats and player morale could be low, whereas the top four from the Championship will be used to winning and player morale should be high.

In the first year I can see Leigh and Bradford displacing two SL clubs so there will be some real pressure on those in the playoffs.

It is hard to name the bottom 4 SL clubs who will be competing with Bulls, London, Leigh and either Fax / Fev.

On this years showing it would be Wakey, Salford and both Hull clubs but I can see Salford finally getting their act together and probably Hull FC making the top 8 as well. The big question is who would be most likely to drop out of the 8 ? Tigers, Catalans and dare I say it Rhino's ?
